Aparantly proper thinner transmission oil may give you an increase in speed. This is because it has less drag and so allows the cogs and gears to move round with less resistance. Im going to try some in mine at the weekend. Will let you know. BTW...Being a 2-stroke my scooter needs it's own supply of oil for the entire transmission. Chain, clutch and cogs.

80W/90 should actually be thicker than 10W/40, so I see no reason why it should improve performance. It should last longer though.
