Im sure my bike is fully de-restricted, I havent changed oil since I got it, and I've done 600 miles.
I only get 35MPH with wind, without it I get 30MPH.
Can anyone ANY way to get my bike to go faster please?

Hello Stocko, just read your post on Scooter-World. I've told you once but I'll tell you again, take it to a garage and get a mechanic to sort it. There's two problems it could be: Either you haven't derestricted it fully or there's something else that's causing it to only reach a top speed of 35mph. You should be able to go at least 40mph so obviously something is wrong somewhere. It's one of those things where unless you know what you're doing and you have the scooter in front of you you're not really going to get anything sorted.

I agree with Phil, there's something wrong somewhere.

One interesting thing I discovered when dealing with motorbike garages is the totally different service you get at opposite ends of the year.
When I took my old Aldy 125cc in to a local garage for it's first service it was the middle of summer and the place was busy. I didn't buy the bike from them so they were under no obligation and they hummed and hawed for ages before agreeing. When I took it back a second time for another service it was the middle of winter and the shop was deserted, suprise suprise they couldn't have been more helpful, did everything but offer me a cup of tea.
Just a little point worth noting if you have an unusual or unfashionable make of bike !

It's funny you should say that Simon, here's my little story from yesterday: I've got a bit of an oil leak on my scooter although I'm 99% sure it's my own fault for over-filling it. Before my scooter was even registered I found out via a copper that my bike was built in 2002 meaning it has been sat around for 3 years. I went to a local motorbike garage and asked him if he services Chinese scooters? He said "I do and I don't" so I replied "you mean you do as long as you don't have to order any parts?". I asked him if he could service my Taishan and have a look at the oil leak, I also asked if he could go over the whole bike to make sure everything is tightened up properly as it's been doing nothing for a few years? He mumbled on about all he would do is what I would do i.e change the oil and check a few screws. I thought sod you matey if you don't want my money see you later!!

Im kinda under the impression that half the fun of owning these things is tinkering with them yourself. Sort of a weekend project.

I tried derestricting mine yesterday and the damn thing wouldn't start so I put everything back how it was. That's the last time I tinker with my bike!! Although I must admit it was fun doing the tinkering but that was when I thought my tinkering would imrove the top speed. ;D

I'm not entirely sure if "tinkering" with something that can get you killed is a good idea. If I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing I leave it to the experts, bite the bullet and pay their going rate. One of these days I'm going to find an evening class on basic motorcycle maintenance and beef up my knowledge a bit, but until then I'll take the safe option any day.

Obviously if you are technically inept then you should leave well alone, however basic common sense should stop you from doing anything dangerous. Im not suggesting that we all start trying to rebuild the frame or anything, but i see no reason why you shouldn't have a play at servicing or trying to get it started or something. I see that as part of the fun of scooter ownership.
