mine is the same, what i do is just flick the starter button till it engages sometimes its terrible when its cold and i get fed up hearing the eeeeeeeeeeeee noise as starter just spins, but if all else fails theres the kick start, from cold on a winter morning it usally only takes three kicks to start.

Do you usualy hold the button when its making the EEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise or do you just keep trying flicks till it goes.

To start mine I keep the button pressed in until it starts.

If the electric start isn't working on your scooter have you checked the battery? It could either be on its way out or just need charging a little.

The eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee noise is the starter spinning without making contact with engine, i just flick the button till i hear start engage properly or other way of doing it is keep your thumb on starter and keep letting brake on and off. Just use the kick start i did for ages cos mine has had this problem from new(now done 2000km)the electric start has worked better of late but i bet when it gets to winter again it will not work so good.the start button is just a modern convenience, the engine wasn't designed to have it on in the first place

i would be very tempted to call whoever you brought it from. If it was new it should have some sort of warranty on it
