Hi. This pink wire that will improve the scooter, what is it use for... can anywone tell me before i cut it off... Firstly, welcome aboard!! I'm not exactly sure what the pink wire is used for but I guess it's a part of the whole restriction process otherwise why would you need to cut it?

If it's a wire then surely it would be something electrical?

It stops you going faster electrically. I've snipped it and got an increase of 5MPH

it doesnt have to be that drastic, if you dont want to cut it just pull it out of the connector block that it goes into, then if it needs to be connected again all that needs to be done is push it back into the plastic block. ;D

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and noticed people are a little uneasy about cutting the Pink wire, and even if they are cutting the correct wire!
Problem solved! You don't need to cut the pink wire in the battery compartment. If you kook under the bodywork on the right side, just above the Magneto, you will see that the pink wire is joined here with a bullet connector, Just disconnect! If things go bad just plug it back in!
By the way, I have discovered what the pink wire is for. Inside the engine cover on the left side (the cover to the Variator and clutch) there is a magnetic sensor that detects the RPM of the back wheel (and therfore actual speed). This info is sent down the Pink wire to the CDI, which will electronically limit road speed. If you disconnect the pink wire, the CDI doesn't know how fast you are going, in fact it thinks you are stood still!
I will post Photo's of all this as soon as I can

Any idea when you wil be able to add photos of "pink" wire bullet connector beneath panels ? Be careful when removing the thin side panels that go from the front of the running board, to the rear light cluster. After removing the screws, and single bolt, they have to slide towards the back to free the retaining hooks, (these hooks are plastic and snap off very easily). The front edge of these rear panels is locked under the front panel, so that has to be lifted slightly to enable the rear panel to move backwards. When I removed mine, I snapped off a couple of the clips, but the panel refitted OK, being still held secure by the fixing bolts. As an engineer, I would have normally been much more careful when removing those panels, but I was feeling very low that day, and just pulled at the plastic till I heard the cracking sound. I must print out the service manuals soon, as it is better to have a hard copy in front of me, than keep having to go back to a computer screen for further detail.

This is where the pink wire bullet conector is Just unplug it and tape up the male end, and away you go...but now a little faster!

Thanks will carry this out
Also is there any point in also lifting the needle in the carburettor ?? - as presumably this will allow more fuel through the main jet
ie is the carburetor set up with the "pink" wire connected and the additional "speed" gained will require more fuel (I would think not as the limiter I understand is to minimise wheel speed not engine revs!!!)
Comments appreciated - also lot of people seem to have dropped the needle "washer" (assume that this is probably a small circlip)

Comments appreciated - also lot of people seem to have dropped the needle "washer" (assume that this is probably a small circlip) You have to be careful with these deristrictions. If you are being followed by the police when doing 40mph, and your scooter comes back from the police computer registered as a moped, there will be a good chance of you being pulled, but if the only modification is the pink wire, giving a max speed of 33mph, then this might not be so obvious. Remember also that any modifications will invalidate your insurance, unless the insurance company is informed, and providing the rest of the machine is still legal. Some insurance claims can be very very expensive. If you knocked a down a young child, and crippled that child for life, the damages could amount to millions, and you could end up paying for this for the rest of your life. I don't want to pour cold water on anyones fun, but these things need to be taken into serious consideration, because it is bound to happen to someone at some time.

I'm 90% sure that the taishans dont have that pink wire . I did try disconnecting other bullet connectors but found that they just shut the bike down, also i gave myself a MASSIVE electric shock right across the chest from one of the connectors almost killing me and it gave me slight burns on my two index fingers, NOT GOOD But Funny

Removed side panels from my sons (Joe on message above) scooter (as per pictures and guide above) found pink wire on frame but it does not connect to anything. Removed CDI unit and used multimeter to check sames pink wire and it was. Not sure why it goes nowhere (unless restriction changed - 2 months old assume 2005 model from Trade Imports).
Any ideas ??

Checked carburettor by removing top - have spring but nothing that can be removed ie no needle - think CV carb (?) it has a brass "something" which may be adjustable up / down as it has a slot for a screwdriver in it - not sure if this will give more / less fuel - any ideas !!!!!
