Hell out there can anybody with any knowledge of hyosung scooters, give me advice on the engine fitted to the Grand Prix Hyper, I have been told it is fitted with a Suzuki engine if so which one, as I am having trouble starting mine and if I could obtain information I could then get it going. Tried everything, plug sparks, cleaned carburettor, even stripped engine down to piston. nothing wrong with that, advised by mobile mechanic to change plug, did that ran for a short time, not ran since, I think the timing is out but unable to check without above information.
Regards Terry

You should be able to set the timing to something close by eye. Since you have had the engine apart it will be way off. This is how to do it.. remove the spark plug. remove the valve rocker cover. Now remove the timing chain. Now cover the spark plug hole with you finger and rotate the engine slowly in the correct direction, you should be able to feel the preasure build up in the cylinder.when the piston has reached the top of its stroke, turn the engine just a little more so the piston starts to go back down. This is the firing position. Now without moving the engine crank , rotate the valve sprocket so that the inlet valve has opened and closed fully. When the inlet valve has closed completely the valve are in the firing position. Now the hard part, replace the timing chain without moving the engine crank or the valves! It is possible!. Put everything back together except the spark plug. now rotate the engine slowly in the correc dirrection and check everything runs smooth, ie piston doesn't touch the valves etc. Replace spark plug and start the engine. This method doe not set the timing perfect, but should be close enough to start the engine. I may run uneven because the timing is out, but you should be able to work out which way the timing needs to go.
Let me know how you get on
