Hello, I am coming up to my 16th birthday and really want a scooter. I haven't saved for long so really the only new bike that I can afford is a Baotian, but this is still great. I am looking at the Baotian BT50QT-9 on eBay and looking to buy from 'theinternetbikeshop' after good reviews. I just have a few reservations and need to ask you experts some questions please about this scooter.
1. What is the avaliabilty of parts like if something goes wrong? 2. Are they pretty reliable from new? 3. What engine do they have -eg, Honda, Yahamha etc? 4. If purchased from eBay do I get a warranty for parts, if so how do I claim on it?
Please someone answer my questions, I want to be a real member of the chinese scooter club.
Thanks in advance Tom

Welcome aboard Tom!! 1. What is the avaliabilty of parts like if something goes wrong?Pretty non-existant but a lot of the time there'll be bits for sale on ebay plus there are a couple of companies that will sell you bits. It'll be hard to find parts but they are out there. 2. Are they pretty reliable from new? Some people have teething problems while others (including myself) never had anything go wrong. 3. What engine do they have -eg, Honda, Yahamha etc?Meant to be based on an old Honda design. 4. If purchased from eBay do I get a warranty for parts, if so how do I claim on it?The warranty usually means they'll send you a spare part in the post and it's up to you to fit it.

Thanks alot Phil. See I really want this scooter but if it is going to break and not be able to be fixed it seems just like dead money But if there is a chance of parts like you said they maybe it is worth taking the risk
Would you say that a Taishan is better than a Baotian in terms of parts etc. or are they all the same just rebranded?

There seems to be more Baotian spares knocking around so more people have probably bought them, the majority of this forum are Baotian owners.

If you buy from the Internetbikeshop, they do state on their adverts that they have spares but only for their own customers.
This is what attracted me to purchase from them over other advertisers.
