For all those that don't know there was a website & forum set up at www.my-taishan.com to pretty much slag off Taishans. It went offline about a week after this forum started and hasn't been back since. Does anyone know if it's gone for good or is it set to return bigger & badder than before?

My-Taishan.com Was Really Designed To Warn People Of The Dangers Of These Little Scoots and was all based on people's Bad Experiences. Personally I'm Glad That My-Taishan.com Was Set Up!

I wasn't. I think that site gave people too much ammo to slate Chinese scooters, as soon as I mentioned on the Scooter-World forum that I'd bought a Taishan someone was straight in there saying "have you seen the my-taishan site......". I know a lot us us suffered a few niggles but no more than any other make of scooter but because our scooters are/were Chinese any little problem gets blown right out of proportion.

Horrible little site. Very biased against these little scooters. Scared the pants off me when i first got mine because that was the only information i could get on chinese scooters.

I e-mailed the guy who set that site up a few times. I certainly don't think he was just out to slag off Taishans for the hell of it. He had some unpleasant experiences and so did several other people. His site was as much a warning about the main importers and their general attitude, than against the bikes themselves. To be fair to his site there were also several comments from people who were perfectly happy with the bikes, or at least realised you "got what you paid for" in terms of build quality.
I think he went on from the Taishan, passed his test and rides an X9 now.

Hi and sorry I have not gotten back for a while!
I am the guy who had the my-taishan.com site created and hosted. I have not been in touch for a while as I have had a lot of professional and personal commitments. I initially set-up the website to share my experiences (a lot of you have spoken to me and know that my intention was to warn people of what they may get themselves into at a time when there was no information whatsoever about them on the internet – but also it eventually grew into a place to share information). I would expect that many of your regulars have used the my-taishan.com website prior to this forum and although there were plenty of negative vibes emanating from the site - I have never removed positive posts and at the time I tried to gather as much information about these scoots as I could (helped a lot by many of you) in order to make it available to people.
The stories on the site were published on the site word by word as emailed to me by various owners and you could also see positive remarks.
I am sorry that your chosen mode of transportation(by choice but most likely due to financial constraints as it was in my case at the time of the purchase) has quite bad reputations in the biking world but that is by no means undeserved when comparing the quality and failure rates against admittedly their higher priced international counterparts.
I kept the website running for over a year after I received my refund (only after issuing County Court Claims against them) from Road Radio Ltd time during which I have been riding a Piaggio X9 125 from JT (John Thompson of St Albans). In the last few months of life of the my-taishan.com website Ginger Phil had started taking a constructive interest in creating a more active and more positive community around the Taishan which I was happy about(Ginger Phil – surely you remember that I was happy to advertise this forum on the main page of my-taishan although only for a short period of time) as for a while I had been considering how to retire the website yet I did not want to close it and throw away the effort that had gone into bringing Taishan owners and valuable information together(I was not worried about my contribution).
After the site went down I initially decided to upgrade my server and rebuild the site from a backup but eventually I decided that the time had come to let it go especially since this new community had sprung-up to take over.
I have since sold my X9(it served me greatly over 8000miles) as I had outgrown it and I now ride a Suzuki GS500.
Thank you all for your contributions to the old site, sorry I had not been in touch earlier to make this announcement and I hope you enjoy your steeds whatever they may be! I will hopefully come over every now and then to see how things are going!
Cheers! Cristi
