While trying to recruit new members to this club I've been contacting eBay members after reading their feedback. I bought my Taishan Commuter from a company on eBay called Bike Mart Direct and I'm pretty sure that they're genuine which is how I got my scooter for only £371. What I have noticed is that there are a couple of companies selling Taishans and Baotians who have a very large percentage of bidders with zero feedback!! Now I don't know about you guys but when I first joined eBay just sending off a cheque for a fiver made me worried and I was always surprised when my item actually turned up. You have to ask yourself who on Earth would join eBay and their first purchase be a scooter for over £500? I don't mind naming & shaming so one of the sellers which is causing me concern is called 777Buckaroo. If anybody from the company wants to contact me feel free. I've noticed that all their bikes sell for over £500 due to a lot of zero feedback members bidding the price up whereas Bike Mart Direct's scooters all sell for around £100 less. The moral of the story is don't buy from 777Buckaroo unless you want to fork out an extra £100 and always look at a companies feedback and go through their bidding history - if you spot a lot of zero feedback bidders stay well clear!!

I've been saying that for ages. 777buckaroo is www.taishan.org.uk, the official UK importer of taishans and back in the days when I still had my scoot I did some investigating and found out that in at least 7 other auctions there was another bidder that kept on comming and bidding on items that were not making the price. It worked out that that other bidder was http://www.taishan.org.uk(Road Radio Ltd) also and I reported it to Ebay. Being the dodgy bastards that Ebay are they first sent me some standard "not enough evidence" reply and when I got back at them asking them to read my email in order to see the evidence they said that they had given 777buckaroo a warning What a joke!

I'm not so naive that I don't realise a lot of companies use this method, whenever I see a "no reserve" auction with a starting bid of £1 where the product is worth hundreds it's obvious that the company will get a mate to put a few bids in so that the price bumps up to a figure they'd be happy to sell the item for but for a company like 777Buckaroo (whoever they may be) to register again & again and bid on their own items is a disgrace. Just been going through some of 777Buckaroo's items currently on eBay and take a look at the bidding history: TAISHAN SPORT: (the number in brackets is the feedback score) numberonebikeman ( 10) £10.50 01-Jul-05 22:05:57 BST lofty8668 ( 0 ) £10.00 01-Jul-05 21:47:37 BST clive6862 ( 0 ) £6.00 01-Jul-05 20:45:23 BST kevinl267 ( 57) £5.00 01-Jul-05 20:05:24 BST clive6862 ( 0 ) £5.00 01-Jul-05 20:44:49 BST clive6862 ( 0 ) £4.00 01-Jul-05 20:44:11 BST TAISHAN COMMUTER:showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £255.00 02-Jul-05 00:04:22 BST numberonebikeman ( 10) £250.00 01-Jul-05 22:08:32 BST showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £250.00 02-Jul-05 00:03:02 BST showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £200.00 02-Jul-05 00:02:52 BST showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £150.00 02-Jul-05 00:02:43 BST showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £100.00 02-Jul-05 00:02:33 BST showmethenuts1 ( 1 ) £60.00 02-Jul-05 00:02:23 BST start410 ( 67) £50.00 01-Jul-05 22:47:18 BST start410 ( 67) £15.00 01-Jul-05 22:46:53 BST lofty8668 ( 0 ) £10.00 01-Jul-05 21:45:25 BST kevinl267 ( 57) HURRICANE QUAD BIKE:craigy1969 ( 8 ) £100.00 01-Jul-05 18:11:32 BST paula25030 ( 10) £100.00 01-Jul-05 22:40:06 BST 8486matthew ( 0 ) £85.00 01-Jul-05 18:58:35 BST 8486matthew ( 0 ) £80.00 01-Jul-05 18:57:33 BST simonos02 ( 3 ) £70.00 01-Jul-05 11:58:20 BST poolace123 ( 2 ) £60.00 01-Jul-05 16:57:59 BST simonos02 ( 3 ) £55.00 01-Jul-05 11:49:54 BST mrbp23 ( 3 ) £50.00 30-Jun-05 20:47:17 BST 2005saghir ( 2 ) £50.00 30-Jun-05 21:03:08 BST 2005saghir ( 2 ) And there's plenty more like this. I should be a detective as I've just gone over the feedback for about eight of the bidders mentioned above (including the higher feedback members) and there were about four from Hertfordshire (The UK is a big place so why so many in one county) and most interesting was a member in East Sussex and 777Buckaroo is based in West Sussex. Of course it could all mean nothing and 777Buckaroo is 100% legit. EDIT: Sorry to keep going on about this but numberonebikeman is currently the highest bidder on two bikes and showmethenuts1 is currently the highest bidder on a Taishan scooter and a quad bike.

Have a look at this: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9939&item=4559589030&rd=1Isn't it funny that most Taishan & Baotian auctions struggle to reach the £400 mark (I paid £371 for mine) until the closing seconds of the auction yet this Taishan Commuter being sold by our old mate 777Buckaroo is already at £400 just 24 hours after listing. Check out the bidding history - what a surprise, showmethenuts1 makes yet another appearance and nearly all the bidders have a zero or very low feedback score.

Look at this site for somebodys horror story with These people my-taishan.com/ I'm not too keen on that site, it's site's like that which give our scoots a bad name. OK the guy had a rough deal and bought a bit of a lemon but the same could be said for any scooter - you'll always get a handful of people who have nothing but problems. You can't expect to thrash a £400 scooter in the same way as a £1400 scooter.

I see that one of the dodgy bidders is in Hertfordshire. I bought my Baotian from the Internet Bike shop which is in Watford, Hertfordshire. Perhaps there is a ring of dealers bidding the prices up.
The Internet Bikeshop took my money, delivered the scooter okay, but I didn't get a manual etc with it. And soon as I got the bike I was off their radar.
These scooters are just fabulous value for money, however, that it isn't possible for dealers to sell them at less than they're worth. My scooter keeps up with similar sized honda / vespa / peugeot units.

I think we'd probably all be moaning like mad if we'd paid the official on the road price of £849 but most paid around the £400 mark which is a steal. I read on one of the Yahoo groups some guy saying he doesn't believe in the "you get what you pay" for rule. In that case why does a Hyundai Getz cost around £7000 and an Aston Martin Vanquish cost more than ten times that price? Of course you get what you pay for.

These Chinese scooters are great value for money as long as you treat them right and look after them. Once a week I go over my scooter doing routine maintenance, basically if I see a screw I make sure it's tightened and I also check the oil once a week. If you make that a once a week habbit you should stop any major faults from developing.

Just been looking at a Taishan Sport being sold on eBay by 777Buckaroo. It's on a 5 day listing with 2 days left and has already received ten bids but..... Look at this rather shady bidding history: (The number in bold & in brackets is the bidders feedback rating) learoy69 ( 12) £110.00 07-Jul-05 09:04:39 BST charwen_uk ( 0 ) £108.00 08-Jul-05 22:33:54 BST charwen_uk ( 0 ) £104.00 08-Jul-05 22:33:34 BST charwen_uk ( 0 ) £100.00 08-Jul-05 22:32:43 BST charwen_uk ( 0 ) £95.00 08-Jul-05 22:31:56 BST joanne3769 ( 0 ) £90.00 08-Jul-05 17:12:45 BST joanne3769 ( 0 ) £80.00 08-Jul-05 17:12:30 BST knowleszeh ( 0 ) £75.00 08-Jul-05 13:52:43 BST knowleszeh ( 0 ) £70.00 08-Jul-05 13:52:28 BST knowleszeh ( 0 ) £50.00 08-Jul-05 13:52:15 BST
