The best quote I got was from Bennetts. £90.30 third party. That was through a co called KG something.

That doesn't sound like a bad price considering your age. For my Blaster I'll be paying over £300 fully comp and I'm 30.

that seems quite steep for a 50cc Phil, even fully comp, especially considering your almost as old as I am !!
£247 for a 16 year old is a pretty good deal, I'd go for it.

I went away and phoned a few other places like Bennets and did a few online quotes and all of them came back around the £300 figure.

Why are these insurance prices so high, after all my car insurance for a new vectra 1.8 16v, fully comp. for me and the wife is only £345!

Why are these insurance prices so high, after all my car insurance for a new vectra 1.8 16v, fully comp. for me and the wife is only £345! Scooters and mororbikes are too easy to steal. A couple of blokes with a Transit, and they can be gone in seconds, unless they are chained securely to something solid. Also most reportable scooter accidents usually result in a write off, so replacement costs are then the full cost of the scooter. They also tend to be driven by younger inexperienced high risk drivers, and part of that high risk will be past on to older, or experienced drivers.

The insurance company did ask where my bike would be stored overnight and I think telling them it'll be in my back garden and not in a secure garage/compound didn't help my price.
