There's a guy who's posted a couple of times on here called David Stephen, he's the guy we got the service manuals (pdf) from at his site: www.davidstephen.me.uk

I was just reading the PreLoved forum and a guy was asking how far he could travel on his 50cc scooter.
Here's David's reply:

Of course it will make it!
And it will be fun too!

Last month I took a Jinlun 50 ( Yep, the 50cc chinese 4strokes from ebay)with my 6 year old as pillion and drove from Scotland to Newcastle.

Then we got the ferry to Amsterdam

Then drove to Gouda in central Holland.

Then did it all again the other way round.

So next time someone say's Chinese scoots fall to bits point them in the direction of this topic.
