Here's a few pics of my 2005 registered Taishan Commuter. Firstly I took the manufacturers stickers off both sides and replaced them with union jacks because every scooter must have a least one union jack, right? ;D I'm a big Batman fan so I've stuck a Bat logo on the front and another one on the rear mudguard. To top it all off I painted the tyre letters white to give the tyres a sporty-ish look. I've also got a carbon fibre effect tax disc holder!! What do you think?

I like the white letters on the tyres, how much did that cost?

It's good how a few cheap (by that I mean inexpensive) mods like the tyre pen and stickers can make the scooter look better.

First I must admit I don't actually own a Taishan or a Baotian scooter, however I did start out scootering over 2 years ago on a Bajaj Spirit which at the time was the cheapest new scoot you could buy in the UK, so I feel like a kindered spirit ! I got the idea for the tyre paint pen from Ginger Phil and added it to my Honda Dylan, I think it looks great. You can have a look at that and all the scoots I have owned (including the wee Spirit) at: www.argolis59.freeserve.co.uk/simons-scooters.htmBest of luck to you all Simon

Hello Simon!! Just looked at your pics, the white letters certainly jazz a bike up don't they? You're lucky you've got Dunlop tyres, my tyres are by Barracuda so I wasn't too sure whether I wanted to highlight that fact.

to be honest I was a bit dissapointed "Dunlop" was such a short word as I thought yours looked really good, although I take your point about the street cred of the tyre brand. I'm quite impressed how resiliant the white paint seems to be. I've been out on a few wet days and the bikes been washed a couple of times but it is still holding firm.

I've done nearly 200 miles since painting my tyres and there's no sign of any flaking yet. As the pen only costs £1.50 it's no major hassle if every six months or so you have to go over the letters again.
