Now, I'm reliably informed that it is possible to remove this. You've all told be and I DO believe you but I've tried and it's just not happening! OK, taken out the long bolt from the panel between your legs and popped that out, incredibly only snapping off two of the the four holding clips! Taken out the bolts and screws from inside the bucket and the rear luggage rack off. Problem is that the bucket is still held in by the two side panels, is it really neccessary to remove those as well just to get the bucket out to do my DARN valve clearances? Somebody who drives one of these surely MUST have successfully removed this at some time - I need your help

I have had my seat off many times. Mine is a little different model but.... All there is to mine is: 1) Undo the 4 bolts & 1 screw. 2) Lift. (Had to wiggle it a bit the first time) May not be much help-but there it is

Yes, the side panels have to come off, but you shouldn't need to take the seat bucket out to do the valves. The order I do it is: 1. Take out the long bolt from the panel beneath your legs, and undo the 2 screws near the seat hinge to free the front panel, but don't remove it yet. 2. Undo all the screws and bolts from the side panels you can see, then free the panels by giving them a bash, with the palm of your hand, upwards. There's some plastic lugs holding them in place. Bit scary the first time, but easier after that. 3. Then that front panel should come off, with a bit of persuasion! which will reveal the last 2 screws, one each side, holding the side panels. 4. Undo those and remove the side panels. 5. Remove the 4 rubber bungs in the floor pan, and undo the bolts. disconnect the battery, & remove the floor pan. You should now have full access to the valves. But if you want to get at the carb, you'll need to take the seat bucket off, so... 5. Undo and remove the rack. Undo the 2 bolts inside the seat bucket. Undo the 2 screws, one each side, holding the plastic panel behind the seat. Undo the 2 screws holding this panel to the seat bucket. Undo & remove the petrol cap. Then the whole lot, seat & panel should come off in one go, leaving just the petrol tank sticking up. Now you can get at everything. Sounds worse than it is, just take it slow the first time, then it'll be much easier the second time!
