Hi trappie69
And welcome to the group, 65mph is a very fast speed for a 2 day old 125, I have a xingyue which is a copy of the baotain 125t-2 and that will only go up to 85kph at the moment as still running I would try running it in by your handbook because the engine will be quite tight and will loosen up in time and don't forget the oil changes at 300km. The only tips I've found for extra performance is a German forum about changing the rollers, just do a google on baotian bt125t-2 and it should come up.

Welcome to the forum. Got ask though, WHY? Why but a 125 scoot if you want speed? Your bike must be a rarity, as any other bike, 50 or 125 are too stiff and the rings have not sealed to do flat out speeds like that. Why bother reading the manual at all if you dont want its advise? My Sukida T3 does exactly 65, and will not go over because the belt is at its very limit on the variators, and would fly off if it went faster. The tyes that come on my bike are rated to 62 mph, check yours! Check all your bolts, the vibration will rattle everything loose, mudguard fixings etc. I presume you are on 'L' plates? You Bumble Bee lights might have a sting in the tail - they are ilegal! Calm down before you find your self tasting NHS HOSPITALity. or draw the attention of Mr Plod!

Can I take it then that in the name "trappie69" the 69 part refers to your IQ level?? These bikes must be run-in properly, you'd do a lot better spending your money on an oil change [both the engine and transmission]. when the bike is run-in you will see a difference in the top speed, but it has to happen gradually. This is part of the enjoyment of Chinese scooters they start off slow but do get better. If you could post a picture of yours on here then we'll know to avoid it secondhand. As its been ruined.

The BT125 T2 is rated at a maximum speed of 85 Km/h (about 52mph) according to the internet bike shop. The gearing wouldn't let it do much more.
Either you are thinking that the dial is in Mph instead of Km/h (which is easily done!) or you have a non standard bike.
However, from your tone, it looks like you will easily be able to excede the 70 mph, but you will be travelling in an ambulance at the time.
These bikes are not designed to do over about 50 or 60 mph. If you wanted to do that, you should have spent much more money and bought a different make bike.

i dont think you all understood me here i said that i tried it flat out once....not going to do any harm i was at 65 MPH for about 2 mins if that.....as for the rest...not going to do anything to the bike to make it go faster YET.......as i have been driving bikes from new for about 4 years now and this is my third bike i do know how to run them in and will do..........i know this pic is from the internet bike shop but it is the exact same one i bought their showroom one.....

It will do harm, taking it to 65mph when it's brand new and not properly run-in or loosened up... it's also dangerous to you and other road users as some bolts on the bike may loosen up during the running-in period.
You say people have all misunderstood you here, but read your posts again above - the "speed, speed, speed" .... "it's Booooring going slow" comments are really immature.
I'm not calling you a Chav but this is a sensible forum for people who own, run and maintain Chinese Scooters - it's one of those forums where you talk about who is the fastest and who is the hardest. So maybe your comments sounded a bit chavy.
Anyway, good luck with the 125 - it's a good looking scooter.

Hey I did say I wasn't calling you a Chav! But good reply mate, (hood up and Tennants), so good on ya !
I know what you mean - I'm running my BT50 in, it's only got 75kms on it so 125 to go, and I'm dying for it to get nicely loosened up and run-in.
Cheers,
Dave.

Dont get too obsessed about not going over a certain speed when running in its more important not to place too greater strain on the engine although this is easier to do on a geared bike. A little bit of full throttle now and again wont hurt just dont get carried away.

Jason - you're either just a stupid kid yourself that hasnt grown up, or even worse, you're a grown adult who hasn't grown up yet and who thinks its big clever and hard to ride too fast on the road.
It's not about killing yourself, its about killing other innocent people that aren't as brainless as you and that didn't choose to be involved in your immature, dangerous decision to ride too fast.
Maybe he would but at least the post he added just above yours had a degree of common sense to it .... he's saying chill a bit about the running in but he's not trying to sound like some sort of dated Tom Cruise "need for speed" type tosser.
Try and grow up a bit and go to the track if you want to ride so fast.
Cal.
