Hello, I've had a Chinese scooter for almost a year now. I love it and it's gone about 1800kms so far. I'm from Rochester NY and I go to school at Michigan State, but now I'm in Orlando FL for the summer.
In the United States the scooter aren't called baotian, but they're ccalled Geely, Jalon, Baron, or Tank instead. Mine cost $450 delivered, I bought a 80cc kit, lighter rollerweights, and a way oversized carb- However I have major fuel issues right now.
I was hoping to break 50mph by the end of the summer. Hello everyone!

hi, my taishan can top at 45mph and it hasnt had any modifications, im suprised that you cant reach 50mph considering you have an 80cc kit installed

Maybe the gas just isn't so good here...
The 80cc kit helped with top speed (+3mph - 38 mph), but it was felt most in the acceleration. I find it hard to believe you did absolutely nothing to your bike and it goes that fast unless it's a 2 stroke. Does your scooter's speedometer even go up to 45mph?

All the engines on Taishans and Baotians are 4 stroke and the speedo does go to 45mph max. My speedo can hit 37mph downhill and it's not derestricted.

The speedo's are too unreliable, i used my handheld GPS to measure my max speed

So how fast really is 37mph?

I dont know whether or not your speedo is calibrated correctly, my one was going way too fast for what speed i was actaully doing
It would say 45mph on the clock and what i was really doing was about 30mph

i have 2 boatain's here and only gas i use is normally 93 as recomended for these. If I get stuck buying less octane they cut out a bit then I add just a Tablespoon octane boost also my speedo reads 50 if u havent de-regulated it u might want to
