Hi all,
My name is Devon and i have just registered my Taishan Commuter after nearly 2 months and will now be able to ride it (when i get some plates). For anyone who are having to take their scooters to local DVLA's for inspection if you don't already know they apparently hsve to be checked for welding etc as early chinese scooters have been poorly put together.Needless to say that was then and now they are sound as a pound.Hope this helps,
take care Dev

Hiya Phil,
thanx for the welcome,i didn't cope without it really, living in London and working in the city i have had to either pay a fiver(now 8 quid)or travel with the great unwashed on public transport.NOW thanx to the dvla i now have a repair job to do on the left panel which cracked when i put it in the car to take it for the inspection yesterday,i could pull it apart and put a new one on but i think i might get away with a fill and sand job, then try and cover it with artwork or an elaborate sticker,i hope i never meet someone from the dvla on a dark night,i won't be responsible for my actions.Any advice on my dilema will be gratefully accepted.
take care Dev

Try a bit of silicone sealant to join the plastic together, make it smooth by running your finger down the sealant and then cover it up with a sticker or two. Nobody will ever know. ;D

Im not sure silicone will be strong enough. Try Araldite glue *sp* It dries like cement, is clear, and can be sanded.

Araldite costs about £10 doesn't it? I was going for the cheap & cheerful option plus would Araldite work on plastic? I thought that stuff was more for metals?

To be honest i used wickes own brand. Only about £3 or something. Worked very well on my side panel after the mishap with my sidestand.

Hiya guys,
thanx for all the useful advice,i went for plastic padding about £8 but that was before i read all the useful tips, also i read how to do it on the Halfords bumper crack repair kit box then put it back without paying the £20 it cost.Basically it says to put adhesive on some type of tape on underside of crack, filler comes thru to other side where you can then put another piece of tape over it to smooth down repair job then just a light wet and dry sanding to make the job flush,i'll tell you how it goes when i'm done,
take care Dev

As long as you get it done that's all that matters.
