Has anyone tryed out their scooter lights yet? My scooter isnt chinese but the lights are really poor, out in the country i could only see about 25m in front, and had no warning about up-coming corners! Ended up crawling around at 20mph!!

Night driving is a bit risky! when i turn my main beam on then everything is kinda ok

I don't really have a main beam! Just lights on or lights off!

I found the lights on my Taishan were pretty good especially the full beam.

I've noticed the lights can be a bit poor too. I was thinking of changing the bulb and bulb holder for a better one, maybe halogen car headlight for instance. Anyone have any ideas?

I've got a halogen light on my Blaster, I can't see what all the fuss is about, like I said the light on my Taishan was pretty good. By the way, I've just moved this topic into General Scooter Chat.

I read that cars are only legally allowed 60W bulbs but motorbike and scooters cant have unlimited wattage, so I was thinking about buying new bulbs, but I donno how it would work and I dont know anything about electronics...

Make sure you check that your electrical system can handle more powerful bulbs, and that the plastic lens cover won't melt, especially if installing halogen bulbs.
The lights on my Dylan are pretty good, night driving is not really a problem. Wait until you try night driving in fog...now that's scary. Only done it once and luckily I knew the road I was on very well, would not have fancied doing it on an unfamiliar route.

Plastic wont melt but battery may go flat over a 55Watt

In the end I haven't put in bigger bulbs, I opened up the light and found there was a metal plate which was covering half the bulb on both headlights, effectively halving the brightness, so I took these metal plates out and that has helped a lot, hopefully not doing any damage........

Light on my BT125 T9 seems pretty OK for what I need, and I'm driving home in the dark each night.
I dont go on any unlit roads though (I don't think that there are any near me) so I can't comment there.
Look. What ever the brightness you put in, who cares if it's illegal, firstly, there are so few policemen around, secondly, I think the ones that are, are really quite caring towards sensible scooter owners and would have no problems if your lights are much brighter than legal, as long as its sensible (cars have a MINIMUM of 110 watts they may drive like tossers on parking lights, but should have 110 watts of dipped lights) If you are no brighter than a car, who cares, and you battery may have a problem with that brightness.
Anyway, I would rather be in court for having bright lights, than in hospital for not.
