As a few members have been having problems finding new speedo cables I got curious and took the speedo cable off my 1979 Honda NF75............. it has the same ends as our scoots........... trouble is, it's only 33 inches(83cms for the kids here) long........ good chance a different Honda cable would do the job.......... I think I'd take my broken cable(if I had one) to a bike/scooter shop and see if they could match it up with something........... ................ #sprint#

? as long as you've got the outer sleeve, and remember what the actual cable ends look like you should be okay

A lot of the cable ends are quite similar and only differ in length although they do vary in the way they are attached to the speedo drive (screw on/push fit with circlip ect) cant for the life of me remember what these ones look like though #dunno#

what do the ends look like on that one? I was trying to find the pic that someone posted that shows the ends(couldn't), it's the same......... as long as the ends are the same, use the original outer which has the fittings

As another option you could just get an electronic bicycle computer and use that. I did this on a mini chopper I had and it worked flawlessly. There is a sensor that you zip-tie to the front fork near the wheel (I cut the wires and extended them) and a magnet that you attach to the wheel (I used JB Weld, not sure of availability to you guys) . You then measure the wheel and input the data into the computer for calibration. They are deadly accurate, which I gather is not true on some Chinese scooters. The one I used had a trip-meter, odometer, clock and calander on it and was only $10 US. Marketed by Schwinn.

it worked until the magnet flew off the wheel never to be seen again.......it did match closely with my speedo, which I have compared with a mercedes bin lorry over a distance of 2 km @ 40Kmh.........

I dont know whether this will work on our scoots but I needed one for a Suzuki, so I got the right length of curtain wire, got the ends out of the broken cable and managed to drill out the curtain wire enough to force fit the ends back. As with all temperary mends, this lasted for 2 years, and was still working when I sold the bike! Its a bit fiddly as curtain wire is difficult to cut without leaving a sharp pointy bit that will catch the outer cable, and the wire is very hard, but as I say it worked! I also did it for an old Ford E93A Prefect too.

P.S. Take the curtains off first!
