Hey all you 30 plusses (there seems to be quite a lot of us), I'm trying to put together the definitive specs for our bikes in real units. Yes! Imperial!
Here's the beginning:
Inlet Valve, 0.05mm = 2 thou Exhaust Valve 50cc - 0.05mm = 2 thou Exhaust Valve 80cc (According to scootdawg) - 0.08 = 3 thou Spark Plug Gap, 0.6mm - 0.7mm = 25 thou
Please add any further dimensions which you would like to include in either Metric or Imperial & I will try & post a definitive list showing both.
Tyre pressures seem particulary variable depending on where you look. Any reliable figures?

1 Inch divided by one thousand or 0.0254mm. You're joking right? #hammer#

A 'Thou' is 1000th of an inch. Some more measurements to add to the list. 50cc = 3 cubic inches 80cc = 4 3/4 cubic inches 125cc = 7 1/2 cubic inches The front of the service manual lists them all

lol, thousands of inches wtf? thats like tiny, how can u possibly work with that sorta stuff You do work with those measurements, only you do it in mm!! It's still the same distance!!! Besides, working to 1/1000th of an inch is called precision engineering, with out it you we wouldn't have ANY kind of mechanization!

sorry, born in 1967, I kinda grew up with both, couldn't resist adding..........
0.05mm(valves etc) really just means 5 hundredths(5%) of a mm............

I'm just amazed that the automated naughty word system on here let Enu get away with 'Shag' !
Chcknugget - I'm not sure about British miles being shorter than American miles but I know some blokes that definately think British inches are shorter ... if you know what I mean heh heh ..... "That's seven inches that is" .....
Sorry, this good post is turning to smut LOL ! #oops#
