My alloy footplates have lost their sparkle over the winter. Anyone got any recommendations for something that will restore their gleam ?

Thanks for the advice. The footplates are alloy (at least that's what they were sold to me as and I've no reason to doubt it). They are not rusty but are getting a bit mottled. I have some WD40 in the shed so will try that first, failing that it's the brake cleaner. Might be an idea to get some brake cleaner anyway as my discs could do with a tidy up.
Taking the Dylan for it's 6 month service next Monday, it's done almost 9000 trouble free miles so I'm hoping all will go well. I'm almost out of the 2 year Honda warranty period but will still get the service done professionaly as I'd rather avoid and expensive repair jobs.
