I presume you mean 'lock', no need to if you use an electric impact wrench, avaliable from Ebay @ about £12.99 and other good tool shops for more. Worth the investment, you will need it for other things on the scoot as well as your car etc.

I must get one of these Impact Wrenches - I have my 4g rollers ready to go into the scooter but no way of getting them in at the mo!

On a very related topic... I was wondering, if i get the 4g rollers and they end up being too light, can you safely mix rollers to 'average out' the roller weights? I don't see why not as long as you evenly space them (i.e. put the larger rollers opposite each other, etc) but i figured i'd get a more experienced opinion before acutally getting anything

Help Help !!!!
I am having big problems under what Hypojam states as Stage 1 - "Remove Transmission cover" .... I have removed all the small retaining nuts and yet I cannot for the life of me get the cover off - it just won't budge at all !!!!
What am I missing here ?
Please reply quickly - I have a half stripped scoot that my girlfriend needs to go to work in, in a couple of hours ..... I thought this was gonna be so easy once I got the Impact Wrench but can't get this blasted cover off to even see the Variator nut !!!
Please, please help !!
Thanks,
Sorry for being stressed but I'm....... really stressed !!!

Forget above, I finally got it off......
The MK 2 BT50s have a lip that keeps the cover on much tighter, and an extra grab space on the bottom of the trannie cover ..... so a good HEAVE and it came off !

Good tutorial!
I'm having a problem just now with a clicking noise coming from the housing the roller weights are in. By hand I can turn it fore and aft about 5mm and can hear the clicking. When the bike is running there is a distinctive clicking all the time that wasn't there before. Is this normal? Could it be a sticky roller or is it something more sinister?
Any help welcome!
Many thanks.

Its your rollers wearing, infact getting lighter! if yo take your variator apart you will find that the rollers have worn oval rather than round, there will be a lot of dust in there, they then then tend to stick, I have expererienced quicker pick-up, but in in 'two' stages, so its time to replace with some decent ones, me thinks! For the record, mine have done mainly longer runs, no town work, so the revs have been probably constantly higher average than some one reving and stopping in town work. Bikes covered 3500ks, on a 125cc.

Only done 350 Kms though! Wouldn't have thought they'd need replacing so soon. However, worth a try, they're not too dear!
Thanks for the advice.
