Having originally bolted the tax disc holder on to one of the exhaust bolts, I was checking around the scooter, after taking it on its first 20 mile run, and it looks like the printing on the tax disc is starting to disappear, probably due to the heat from the exhaust.
I have now moved the holder, because if the printing cannot be read, it will probably be classed as not displaying a tax disc.
I removed the left hand side reflector, (near the rear wheel), and drilled another hole below it, so the reflector is now about 10-15mm lower. This has now enabled me to drill another hole near the top of the bracket, and above the reflector, (if anyone else is trying this, make sure you put a thin piece of wood behind the holes when drilling, so you don't drill the mudguard). I then made a 50mm long bracket, with a hole at each end, and bolted one end of the bracket to the hole near the reflector, and fixed the tax disc holder to the other hole. This has made a neat job, and the tax disc is not in the way of anything else.

Isn't it law that the tax disc must be on the left hand side? Mine is on the right as that was the best place to fix it.

Thats one of the reasons why I moved mine from the right hand side, (exhaust bolt), to the left hand side, near the rear reflector. I didn't want to put it behind the reflector, as the reflector is too easy to remove without tools.
Has anyone else noticed any fading of the print on the tax disc, when it is attached to the exhaust bolt?
Just found the following quote from uk.legal
An excise licence must be fixed to a vehicle in a holder sufficient to protect the licence from the effects of the weather to which it would otherwise be exposed.
Consequently, an externally displayed licence must be completely enclosed in a waterproof container.
An excise licence must be exhibited on the vehicle so that the particulars are clearly visible in daylight from the nearside of the road, as follows
(a) on an invalid carriage, tricycle or bicycle, on the nearside in front of the driving seat.
(b) on a bicycle with sidecar, on the nearside of the handlebars or the nearside of the sidecar
(c) on a vehicle with a windscreen extending across the vehicle, on the nearside of the windscreen; or
(d) on any other vehicle, on the nearside window of the driver's cab (if it has one), or on the nearside of the vehicle in front of the driver's seat, or towards the front of the vehicle in front of the driver's seat, or towards the front of the vehicle in the case of a pedestrian controlled vehicle.

When I bought mine, it came with tax already and it was bolted on the front of the scooter. Is that allowed?

What's a Tax Disk? Someting like a license plate? Just curious Are you serious? It's a round piece of paper to confirm that your vehicle has been taxed, you have to display it on the windscreen/shield of your car or somewhere appropriate on a motorbike/scooter.

Was looking for somewhere to put my tax disc, hard to find a secure place with all the plastic. in the end decided to fix it on the front wheel nut. Bit awkward as the wife bought me one of those Oxford holders with about ten small nuts n bolts around it so needed access all around the holder. Looks ok and its on the nearside and forward of the seat. just need my tax disc on tuesday to put in it now

That's against the law though. You have to have it on the near-side and forward of the seat.

Yes, We dont have tax disks here. At least not in Michigan. Who knows what the other 49 states do, they all seem to have to be different. Especially California, they are VERY different ;D All thats required in Michigan is a registration sticker.
If I can figure out how to put a pic in a post I will show you what they look like.
