Hi is there any Technique in getting off the drainage nut on the Boatian BTQ to change the engine oil i have been trying now for about half an hour and no matter how hard i pull or push i just can't seem to budge the Nut!!!! I suppose i will have to take it to a garage as i don't have any power tools why do they have to make the nuts so tight...I think i'm going nuts at the moment as i have now done over 1500 kms and am desperate to change the oil though the bike is running really well at the moment even got it to 50mph today, though i'm begining to suspect that if it's doing this that the engine will blow one of these days if i don't change the oil... Oh yes i have not made any changes to de restrict the bike Regards I have just changed the engine oil on my Baotian and the drain plug was not tight, in fact it took very little spanner pressure to remove it. Are you sure you have the right drain plug, and are turning it the right way If you do get the drain plug undone OK, just remove it very slowly, and check which order the spring and filter come out in, (you will get a bit of oil on your hands, but it will be worth it in the end) Let me know as mine came out too quickly, and I am not sure of the order in which they should go back.

Hi
The Nut i'm trying to move is under the engine same side as the dipstick but a little bit further to the front of the engine, Anti Clockwise to undo the nut but i have to say it just won't budge and i'm getting worried that i will ruin the nut if i continue there just seems no way of moving it

Just noticed in the manual it says to replace the engine oil with engine warmed up? I would have thought it would be harder to get the nut off when the engine is warm

If you are sat on the floor at the side of your bike, the oil dipstick in front of you, the drain plug is as you say just under the engine and to the front a little, to undo the nut you must turn the NUT anti-clockwise, as you look down on this you will be moving the free end of the spanner from right to left.
With the engine warmed up the nut is quite easy to remove, also the oil runs out easier when its warm.
When you replace the filter and spring and plug the go in that order with the filter fitting inside the top of spring.

Are you 100% sure you're undoing the correct nut? It should look different to all the others, the one on my Taishan was really easy to undo whereas the other nuts were so tight I couldn't budge them.

OK I have a real problem i have just attempted to take the transmission oil nut off ( the one for putting the oil in) and it looks as though its threaded so I can't tighten up or now unscrew it just goes round either way, any suggestions I suppose i'm lucky this was not the drainage nut the nut is still quite tight but won't come out or go back in...
As it's not the drainage nut would it be safe to ride the bike i have checked just going round the block and there does not seem to be any leakage from this access point? I need the bike tonight

That's a good one!
I reckon as long as there is no oil spilling out when you ride you should be OK for now. But it does need sorting, I would place a flatblade screw driver behind the bolt head and aplly a little leverage as you unscrew it. That should allow it to come out. You would then need to decide if it's the bolt thats threaded or the or the engine casing. If it's the bolt, just replace it and count your lucky stars! If it's the engine casing, you are going to have to 'Tap' a new thread and get a bigger bolt.
CAUTION: If you do tap another thread, do it very slowly and carefully, also you WILL need to flush oil through a few times to remove any fillings that could enter the gear box.
Good Luck!

Many thanks for your advice billygreen1973
I have also spoken to a friend of mine who runs a garage who has said he would have a go at removing the nut, and if needs be Tap a new Thread, I have been out again for a much longer run pushing the bike up to 40 came back and still no leakage from the nut so i hope it will be ok for tonight have to do deliverys for a Thai restaurant though it won't be busy as last night i can't afford to not be without the bike

just to let you all know that i managed to get the problem with the threaded nut/casing (Transmission oil) had to be tapped or what ever you call it lucky for me my friend owns a garage so he did it for a drink... Just one thing when we did drain the oil he said that by the looks of the oil it did not need changing!!! this is the first change i have done on the bike from new it's done 1780 kms he was a bit miffed as to why i was wanting to change the oil said it looked ok to him also i have had no reason to want to derestrict the bike as i have managed to get up to well over 45 and getting close to 50 without having to cut any cables or change washers in the carb I'm just wondering... though i would say that sometimes the bike is slow to pull away but once the bike is warmed up it can fly i will test it going up a hill this weekend to see if i the old problem of only going 20 mph still happens now that i have the new oil in the bike does now sound a bit different and feels a little bit better the transmission oil i used was from Halfords Castrol GTX came in a tube and was very easy to inject into the transmission box....Not that i was doing it i was just a useless bit of Garage junk standing their fretting over my little Boatian hoping that i would be riding it tonight!!!

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Are you sure your bike hasn't been derestricted? All mopeds are meant to be restricted to 30mph so maybe you've got a Friday afternoon bike where they forgot to restrict it.

Did anyone else get a Concertina style squeezy bottle with their bike? is this for filling the gear box with oil? I got one but im not sure what its for, it seems a bit too small chamber to pump oil in, it would take you ages to fill it up. I just took a small nozzle of a multi purpose oil bottle, washed it out then let it dry. I then put this nozzle on the end of my gear oil bottle and squezed. No mess at all! Was extremley chuffed. Started the engine and it made a bit of a racket at first!! But its fine now. It purrrrrssssss like a pussycat!

Believe me or not, I paid little more than 20 pounds (30 euro) just for changing engine and gear oil at first service!!! What a fraud. It must be done in that service to make a guarantee valid. I am angry !!! That is why I asked, I will never give money to them again !!!! And maybe you will believe me, maybe not, monthly salary here is less than 200 monthly, I hardly earn every penny I have. I was so peed off. Best of all is that when I asked them what type of oil they put in gear, thay said, it is the same... I could not believe, will change gear oil by myself tomorrow. I have option of 80W90 and some API III grade oil. What to take Milan
