Hi, I bought a Longjia LJ50QT-F 50cc scooter from Europa Trading (it’s branded as an X-Stream Blade 50 – which is nice). The engine ground to a halt after 2 weeks, it’s now repaired and I have been advised not to use full throttle for 300miles. Currently, when the throttle is ½ to ¾ open the engine stutters at around 25mph. There’s no throttle response if it’s opened further more stuttering ensues. Is this common on scooters ?
The engine is restricted and the belt cover looks exactly the same as a Boatian BT50QT9D so I would imagine taking the restriction off should be a doodle, but when is it safe (in terms of run in) to take it off ?
Can anyone assist with my problem as Europa seem to be no help at all ?
Thanks !

Take the restriction out of the carb and it should fix your power stuttering

no lol its on top of the engine under the seat look in the quick links section for the derestriction guide
btw
carb is an abbreviated version of carburettor (the bit that mixes the air and petrol)

I restricted my Boatian BT50QT9D from new before even starting it and (touch wood) I've had no problems .... As long as you're still careful about speed and throttle use, there's no reason why de-restricting would cause problems during running in.
Mine now does 42mph but I only tested that once ! I am at 100kms so 1/3rd run in !!
Good luck - follow the guides on this site - derestriction of these scooters is easy - even I managed it !

Dave, The Baotian handbook refers to the running-in period as being 1000 km [[621 miles], not 300 km. Brian

Oh no Brian, don't tell me that ! I can't wait for it to be run-in and 1000kms will take me around 4 years to reach at this rate.....(the scooter is only doing 3 miles per day !).
I was thinking about changing the oil now - no particular reason other than I bought some decent Castrol GPS 4T oil to put into my Yamaha, and I have a couple of litres left in.
I'm hoping it may loosen the BT up as it's pretty slow at the moment ......
