Well finally get the Kinroad on the road, so off I go for a little run just to see if it runs ok, hit the 67Km mark, as I go around a roundabout I felt a bit of a judder, then a clunk and a clink, hmmm.......I thought it was the stand hitting the ground so I pulled over just to check all was OK, had a look at both stands and all was ok, then I noticed the metal ring holding the shock spring in place was broken off so I went back upto the roundabout for a look and sure enough there it was in several pieces. So phoned the dealer and it would appear this is the first time they have ever seen this happen. So off the road till sometime next week.

I've seen pic of the shocks whole mount ripped into pieces, but never anything like that. The pic tells there is no rust or anything, so it just broke off? Spooky! Driving that fast there is a possibility of slamming pretty bad to the ground, glad nothing like that happened.. ..hope they send spares fast and you get back on the road. Nothing is worse than waiting, doing nothing

Well as I expected no phone call from BTS Motorsport Ltd, the company I bought the scoot from, so on the mobile to them and get the usual excuse that "no message had been left from Saturday but I'll go see the mechanic and phone you right back",hm.....no call back, so I phone them again, "the mechanic is on the forklift he'll phone you back" you getting the picture now? third call get told "the vans going to be off the road so we won't be able to pick the bike up till midweek" hm......i'm thinking bugger this "I'll ride the scoot up to you straight after work". So off I go on the ten mile ride with a foooked shocker and what do I get told when I get there "we don't have the correct spring for that scoot but we will put a temp on" 3 springs later and none off them fit as they were rubbing on the air box, so as you can see I had to do with option 4 below which I think come off a bicycle. Bounced all the way home, and to be honest I don't hold out much hope off ever getting the correct one as the mechanic said "it could take up to 2 months for the part to ship from china and they might not even send the correct spring"

hmmm cor blimey sport, you are up the creek without a paddle, I was told they made modeds from recycled beer cans and slot machine parts. LOL , I had a similar problem with a rear brake plate that cracked in half when I applied the brakes. Im glad I wasn't going fast hehehe could of been nasty. Lousy thing to happen on a brand new bike and on your first run too. Sh*t happens.

Thats a bugger, I held out all hopes that BTS was one of the better dealers, they helped me to source brake pads and I thought they were o.k to the extent that I have written in this forum that my intention was to get my next bike from them. OOOOOOOOOOOPs! time to think again, perhaps? Or is a one off fopar?

I know I have said it before but I do wonder if we should not put a list together of wheer not and where to buy these scoots from and which brands to avoid. I worry that some one is going to have a terrible accident on one of these iffy machines. Simar you have the right to ask for a new bike or a refund undre the consumer laws. If you paid for it by credit card you have any more protection. Dont let them get away with such poor service. If the spring is that same that is on the Boation try giving Boation UK a call to see if they can supply a part quickly. 0870 777 4388

I agree with a BLACK LIST, but it looks to me like 3/4 of the dealers would be on it! Trouble is, the author of negative feedback it likley to get phone calls like I got from my dealer, but as long as the write-up is honest and not exagerated I cant see a problem. You are also dead right in saying simar has a right to the repair, regardless of warranty, the goods are not fit for the purpose they were sold for, there-fore the dealer MUST rectify it in a manner to suit the customer, and with- in a reasonable time scale, not weeks or months. Simar, the best thing you could do is have a word with your trading standards office, get the EXACT wording, and notes, and present it to BTS forthwith. With this I would in mind you may be surprised as to the reaction, they should take one off another bike, and let them wait for the replacement. Up with I would this not put!!!!

maybe you could get the orginal welded if they dont come up with the goods
From the pics might be worth giving the back break nut a turn or two, only if its weak that is looks like it might be

The biggest problem with this company seems to be a lack of communications between themselves and the customer. This is the second scoot I purchased from them (via Ebay) , the first one being a little 50cc which I purchased a few weeks prior to this, which was delivered in a crate, on opening the box I found the rear wheel was off a completely different scoot and was a 12" the proper size should have been 10" anyway they replaced it with no bother I just had to drive up and pick it up as they said on the phone they would post it out and i've since sold the scoot anyway. The Kinroad was supposed to be delivered in a crate too but they made a mistake and built it, which was a shame as I was looking forward to building it up. I would have taken a lot more care than they did as the forks were scratched and the little tinted visor at the front was broken and covered in scratches, I phoned them straight away to report the broken visor and was told they would order a replacement, I purchased the scoot on the 8th of August and keep getting told that its on order. I know what you are all thinking, but to be honest I think they will come good in the end and if they don't well, they are the losers not me as I will just take my business elsewhere in the future.

No no no, they are not the loosers, because they will carry on trading as is, and other unsuspecting customers will be caught out! As for this being the second bad scoot, that says it all!. I had all this and more from my supplier, got Trading Standards involved so I knew what I was talking about and miraculously I started to get results. In the end they were looking for a pat on the back because thet EVENTUALLY got there!!!!!!! Stand your groung and get what you've paid for.

I'll give them a few more weeks, if they don't sort it out I'll seek further advice from trading standards.
