With a view to changing my rollers, I've acquired a cheap impact wrench; however, it has a hexagonal socket that takes screwdriver bits. Is it possible to buy a converter that will allow me to use 3/8" or 1/4" sockets with it? Alternatively, are there socket sets available in a screwdriver bit hexagonal format?

Normally, the hex socket comes off to reveal a 3/8" square drive, which is designed to take sockets.
Mind you dont damage your variator with it though! ;D

If its the type that you use with a hammer......dont! You are hammering directly onto the end of the crank-shaft, not a good idea! You could damaged the threads on the shaft or even bend it. We use the 12v electric drill type as advertised on eBay or Halford & Argos have then too, costing anthing from £11-20. In answer to your original question, I have not seen any.

You're right, bajaj, there is a 1/2" drive hidden behind the screwdriver bit set. Sadly it's a hammer-type impact wrench... Since I'm keen not to bend my crankshaft, I'll keep it for other jobs. Can someone post a link to the 12v electric drill type - I want to make sure I buy the right thing this time!

I've heard that the 12volt impacts are not strong enough. I'd buy a 120 - 220volt impact 1/2"drive and it will do anything you need. Try Sears, you get the lifetime guarantee with it too. Be really careful if you go to Ebay and get one. They can be junk and no guarantee after you use it.
