I have a dayang 50GT with a damaged magneto. Bought a new magneto but can't get the old magneto off the bike to replace. Broke an arm of the jaw pulley trying to remove it. Removed the four bolts of magneto assembly and magneto is pressed on so it shoud just come off but won't. Is something else holding it on or is there a repair manual? Can't find any info on this scooter...please help...walking in america.

You need a flywheel puller. Mine cost me £7 from beedspeed.com The size you need is a 24mm one.
The flywheel/magneto outer, fits on the drive shaft over a woodruff key. The fit is an interference fit onto the tapered drive shaft. Removing it can very difficult and the use of a puller is needed in a lot of cases.
beedspeed Part Number (26 700 0080)..(Honda/Kimco/Peugeot)

Sorry took so long to respond but thanks for infoo on removing magneto. When I told guys working on bike they replied that they had got it off...took a grinder and ground the flywheel off... . Got new magneto on but nut only tightens down 3-4 threads. They claimed fixed but broke down on way home and won't start.Had no power coming home and finally gave out. Reset valves (thanks to online manual got from this site) but magneto doesn't spin consistently when trying to start. Get spark...sometimes. Trying to tighten nut down further with no luck (think shaft will strip). All started when belt broke and tried to keep magneto side from turning while team of King Arthur weight lifters took turns trying to remove nut from drivebelt side...damaged magneto...replaced it...still no ride. Car broke same time and am rebuilding engine...done but timing still off. Just staring at scooter in kitchen like its a gift from satan...Love this site...thanks again for info on flywheel remover size...can't locate here in Missouri.

Sounds as if the mag is slipping. Are you sure the taperon the shaft is the same as magneto, if its not it will never tighten up.

I have had a look on the web to try to xref your bike as marks like Tank & Dayong are not over here, but all I came up with is Dayong agricultural machinery. Do you know what engine it is? i.e copy Honda GY6. If we can find that out we may be able to advise the right replacement components for you.

Can't locate engine # except Dayang 50QT. Almost exactly like engine in manuals on this site. Took magneto off again...shaft is stripped on end furthest from engine...am rethreading but having difficulty keeping shaft from rotating while rethreading. Nut was only 3 threads on...found woodruff key and half in place and half smashed against magneto magnet. Magneto definitely was not tightened down. Getting new nut and if successful at rethreading then should get it tight. Can't locate woodruff key replacement. Will it work with only half of key in place? It's the right magneto I know but still looking for woodruff key to fit. Thanks a bunch for help. Will let you know if it works

You must have a complete woodruff key, if you cant find one they are easy enough, if not fiddly, to make. Important point is it must fit tight in the slot, if not it will shear off in no time. Use only mild steel, as harder steel will destroy the key way side an the shaft and rotor, then no key will fit properly. On the up side mild steel is easier to file as well!

Thank U enuo6...found this out the hard way. No key to be found so formed one out of close match of woodruff key. It was hard to get magneto flywheel back on but key finally slipped into shaft slot for a really tight fit. Had re-threaded shaft so nut went on and tightened down good. Had drivebelt cover off on other side to keep shaft from turning by holding nut on that side. It started right up but gear(front drivebelt top side) began rattling and making very loud noise. I stopped engine and pused it back in and figured I just neede to have belt cover back on. Put it on and took bike outside to test. Started up much slower and when tried to go forward it just died and wouldn't restart. Magneto spins with no hesitation so I think key is still in place but don't know what happened on belt side. I'm checking valve clearance first just in case(already set them prev.) then off with belt cover to see if something wrong. Will I ever get it running again??? Thanks for your insight...it's been right on.

Just a note...the key sheared off again so am refiling another one to fit. Would getting a rocket key from ebay fit. They claim it won't shear off and advances timing 10 deg. The shaft looks just like the pics on this site under "Ignition timing..." post under engine and derestriction. Any feed back would be appreciated...this is all I need to get bike running again.

Refiled key to make shorter in heigth and now it runs fine but fear this could happen again so haven't ridden very far yet. Gonna order a rocket key off ebay to have in case this happens again. Never did anything like this before(make my own woodruff key) so don't have alot of confidence yet that it will hold but thanks for the help and advice..it got me through it. Love this site.
