Hi everyone, my BT50-QT9 was stolen from my house a few weeks ago, and found by police the next morning two blocks away from my house. It looks like the vandal s tried to hotwire it, the police found it with the front panel ripped off, and the wiring removed from the round ignition bit near the top. (I bought this from the internetbikeshop on Ebay about 6 months ago) Unfortunately, I have never seen under this front panel before, so I don't know where or how the wiring is supposed to go. There are no lose wires which look like they could be soldered back onto the ignition bit - and everything else mostly looks like its plugged into something. So I'm really lost. (I know how to solder, though) This is my first time on the website and forum - I'm thrilled it exists because theinternetbikeshop says from the photos I sent them, they can't help, and to bring the bike up to them in London to service. Well... I don't have an opportunity to do this, and it looks like the people who stole my bike simply messed with the wiring, had no success then dumped it. Which is why I'm appealing for your help So, basically, I will try to attach about four photos with this post. They show the ignition block (what wires are supposed to go to it, and where?) the main wiring at the front of the bike (again, what is supposed to go where?) and finally the battery compartment (does this all look ok? I don't think they messed with it, but the battery was taken). Incidentally, I bought a new battery and inserted it. I can tell you, in the state its currently in, nothing happens when the starter button is pressed, or with the lights, or anything. It's dead in everyway. (I thought it might be in a half-attempted hotwire state) My thanks in advance to any genius who can work out what needs rectifying from these photos, cos I haven't a clue! (the pictures are good quality, apart from the ignition close up.) -david- email: dpvardy@msn.com pictures: ====== img91.imageshack.us/img91/1751/batterycompartment5pf.jpgimg235.imageshack.us/img235/4025/ignitionblock3ze.jpgimg235.imageshack.us/img235/3964/wiresfrontview4ko.jpgimg235.imageshack.us/img235/9485/wiressideview8ux.jpg

I see in the pic there is a plug not connected, I'm almost sure this goes to the Ignition switch. I'll have a look at my bike and take a couple of photos, mines the same as yours.

That usa site ships to the uk and you pay in dollors cha ching its like good exchange rate at mo $100 = £65 they will sort you out with the exsact right part if you contact them or you could try these guys in the uk design.ethics@virgin.net for the part if you have problems getting a battery you could try www.tayna.co.uk/i gave them the volts and the amps (for 50cc i think its 12 4amp) also you will need to mesure the battery compartment for the correct size you want to ask for a battery with block connectors on worked out a bit exspencive £40 inc del for a filled charged 12 6amp battery for my 125 was an english make

The wiring is missing on your bike from the empty plug to the back of your ignition switch. As you can see in this pic of my bike, you will need to solder 5 wires to the back of the ignition switch. Just cut the loose plug off and connect the wires direct. These pics should help Let me know how you get on

it looks diffrent you yours ally becuase you have a remote starter or alarm or both
all that appears that happend is the wires were taken off the switch and wired together this removes the need for a key
The wires and block connector are missing you can solder these back if you have them
i did mine with a glue gun and soldering iron it was tricky
first find out the correct combination
then solder the wires on
then i glued guned over mine to stop shorts
was well gash in the end it worked okay but i seen em on that scoot usa site adn i needed some more parts i was thinking
why not get a new one i dont want me bike to not start then have to hotwire it in town
first i'd re do the hot wire or solder to see if thats the only problem then if it is spend out like 30 quid on the part

If only I was in Southampton! I could fix it in about 10 mins. It's just a case of soldering 5 wires.

Hold on a second... I arrive home this evening after work, and your kind messages of help, to find the new battery for my moped - gone?! Don't seriously tell me someone has gone into the garage and stolen the battery?! This is incredible!!

...Yep, after further checking, since the moped has been out of order, and sat in the garage, someone has actually been into the garage and taken the new battery I bought for it. I wonder if they are the same people who took the moped in the first place? Either way, this is getting a bit rediculous...
Thanks for all your diagrams for wiring it up, and you suggestions of new ignition bits. I copied down the wiring colours and when I looked in the garage, as BillGreen said, I should just be able to match up the wires by cutting off the block. Unforunately this isn't enough length on this, but I guess I'll get some wires from somewhere and extend them and resolder them onto the old solder blobs which still exist.
I decided to look around the bike some more, with my untrained eye, to see if I could spot any other anomolies. I found one more. Near the kickstart at the back, there are two rubber tubes hanging down from underneith. They don't touch the ground. The tubing is black, and hollow. One is slightly wider diameter than the other, about 1 cm and 0.5cm. I wonder what this is about?!
..you know, I'm going to look around the house more, just incase I took the battery inside somewhere, but its pretty tidy here, i can't see it anywhere, or in the garage, and I'm positive I simply stuck it in the bike to test it, once I got it back from the police (and ordered the replacement battery). I'm almost at a strange point of thinking - if I buy a 3rd battery, is that going to disappear now, too? And are there people visiting my house reguarly?
(I bought a cheap motion sensor alarm the other day, my idea was to put it inside the seat, and if anyone tried to steal the moped, the motion of it being tilted might set it off. But now that I've played with it, I don't think it's quite as sensitive. Perhaps I'll figure out somewhere better to put it on the bike. (I also thought of buying more, and fixing them to the door handles in the house. Anyone trying to break in and these will give a good warning about it)
I'm on a real budget because I'm soon to be a student at the University here. (on a gap year currently). Plus I'll be leaving to see my girlfriend in russia in 3 weeks time, then going to America for 5 months to do some writing. But primarily you see, I wanted to be happy in that my moped was working again, for when I arrived back.
I'll let you know how I get on...
