don't give up, stay calm, it all comes with practice, i took my cbt last year, first time i'd ridden anything with 2 wheels since back in the 70's! can't drive a car, and was a nervous wreck on my cbt. try to enjoy the riding experience , and practice all you can until your next cbt. good luck.

Failing your cbt might feel bad, but the instructors dont want to let you out on the road on your own until they know you will be safe. Its like an MoT, you might worry about it, but in the long run it's for your own good. Practice makes perfect, hang in there and you'll be ok.

hi cleo, riding a bicycle is good advice, its basicly the same, but with a lot less weight" just build up your speed gradually and you will get a feel of the road and the bike/scooters limits of grip-soon enough you will be scraping the side stand! i have been on my scoot now for two weeks.i haven't been on two wheels for about 5 years,my last bike being a 600cc bandit, which i could throw all over the shop! i am 350 km in on the scooter and am only just beginning to corner with confidence(not in the wet though! lol) it takes time, and it will come with practice! dont give up,wear plenty of protective gear (it is one less thing to worry about) and practice, practice, practice! when you have done that, practice some more, and you will sail through the next cbt with ease! good luck, and don't give up!

I empathise cleo.
i have such horrendous balance problems sometimes I can't ride a bicycle.
I have managed to ride a scooter several times now without falling off and I'm certain that is because I ride pillion a bit now and you get used to the feeling of leaning and other motion.
If you can find someone to take you on the back a few times it may help.

Until I got my bike, not that is much, it was about 15 years at least since I last rode anything on two wheels. It's just as matter of getting your confidence back and driving within your limits and the limits of your own bike. Im not worried about my own capabilities, it other road users, especially fast car drivers that dont give a hoot about anyone on a moped or scooter. Although, I don't ride during the night or after dark, I have already taken precautions to make myself more visible to other road users by wearing a bright orange jacket sort of thing with reflective stripes. I think you can get these from any disposal shop for a couple of quid.. Whats a couple of quid and wearing somthing that although, it might you look like and feel like a goose when one day it might save your life because of other peoples stupidity. By the way I did not need to take a CBT because I got my licence before 2001 then again Im not sure what the maximum CC I can drive without resort to stupid L Plates. I originally had an All Groups driving Licence till the DVLA decided to cheat me out of renewing it, because I had let my old licence expire and never renewed it.. to me thats a violation of my human rights. Who can argue with the DVLA?

thanks Cleo, you know I try to give advice where i can I also like to have a lot of fun on here too. And I do. Its because of people like you who appreciate the efforts that other people try to help others that makes this place such a great place so many thanks. Just because you blew it on your CBT doesnt mean you aint gunna get it. Keep at it, a guy once told me that theres no such thing as luck. Luck is something you have to work for, the harder you work at it the luckier you become. It's something we should all work at whatever our goals in life. hope it helps alan oooooooooo and thanks for the chatty in chat room you were my first victim lol
