Thought it time I said hello after lurking for a while! My name's Lou, Im 29 and new to scooters. I took my cbt last year on a geared 125, promply bought a chinese cg125 clone, had it a few weeks and found I hated the gears (or couldn't work them!). Anyway took the bike back to where I bought it and swapped it for a kinroad bt50qt-11, more or less identical to the baotian (some pics on the showroom of mine). Didnt ride the scooter much after getting it in October as my dad was ill but finally started using it a few weeks ago and I love it (apart from my dead battery). Am hoping to hire a 125 scooter to take my test on so I have the option of riding one in the future. I had never ridden before and I dont drive a car so I'm still learning everytime I go out.

Hey Lou,
An official WELCOME !
I want to thank you for recommending Seear Motorbike Training is Spennymoor ......... I contacted them after your reccomendation and they couldn't have bene more helpful, friendly and flexible when booking the CBT.
I'm doing the CBT with them on Friday (2 days!!), so will let you know how it goes.
I'm doing it on a Scooter but part of me is wishing I had booked a geared bike instead, just to try it out ..... then again, I can always try a geared bike after the CBT .... it's probably best that I am doing it on a scooter, so I can concentrate on the road and handling without needing to think about gears.
On your Battery - My BT50 had a really bad battery from new ...... my electric start never worked on the scooter from new, despite a full charge of the battery.... I bought a "non-chinese" battery from Ally on this site, stuck it in the scooter and the electric start fired first time ! It's a really good idea to get a better battery on these scooters, as the stock ones are poor and regularly lose charge for a lot of people.
