:Hi every one, Im Terry & I'm probably the most northern Brit with a Chinky scoot, as I know of no others up here in the Shetland Isles, although that could well change soon! I am originally from south east England, got sick of the rat race though, came up here for the space! have just got a new Sukida 125T3, so far a good bike, let down by poor support from the seller, and couriers. It will get a hard life up here with the hills and headwinds, a good teast, but so far it seems to cope o.k. I have had bikes all my life ( I just turned 5*), giving up an Aprilia RST 1000 v twin 2yrs ago, for the option of staying alive longer, but cant give up two wheels! so here I am. I have worked for bike shops too, so I'm no stranger round a tool box either. Found the site usefull, so any tips or probs I find I will pass on. Nice to have the company though, see you about on the site, regards Terry

welcome from a southern Scottish softie ! Bet you paid through the nose to get the bike couriered to Shetland, a lot of the ads I've seen on e-bay don't deliver to the islands at all.

Hi drzoom, we have ways! Most sellers will do the deal if they say main land delivery, they get to Aberdeen, we pay the ferry fee up to us, in thew case of the bike £56. Not too bad a penalty from escaping the rat race. Oh, badobsession, I gave it up 'cause the roads aint long enough up here, which is a shame as we very rarly see the old bill!

Honda main dealer is in Lerwick, our main town, which is about midway on the main Island, which is about 50 miles long.If you ride from Sumburgh up through the main land, then two isles to the tip of Unst, (Britains most northly point) you cover about 75 mls.

'cause we've got petrol stations near by, its Shetland, not the Moon. I have got to Lerwick from my house (27mls) in 17 minutes, (on the Aprilia though!), we dont get traffic jams. We have to pay though.................pertol is £103 ltr at the mo. A small price to pay for CLEAN AIR!!!!! I hate 'going home' to the mainland, all those fumes, traffic, speed camera's, people, its just reminded me why we moved up here. There's 22000 other's here as well you know, not just me. And the fishing is FANTASTIC!!!!!! Trout in the land locked lakes, all free to use, and so much sea fishing its untrue. Luckily its very expensive to get up here for tourists, so we dont get too many to spoil it. Cant think where I'd live back in England, possibly Heasham or Norfolk coast, but it would still be a very poor second to here. You have to experience it to know what I mean. Oh, and we dont even lock our doors, and the scoot wont get knicked by some little scrote thief to ride on the track! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhH.......peace!

This morning I paid 99.9p per litre for unleaded. Expensive? Well the price has FALLEN in the past two weeks from 104.9 per litre. If you think 90p is expensive well try living in the more remote areas of Britain where cars are a basic necessity of life. A reduction in rate of duty would help to stabilise the prices to the motorist. Eric Thomson, Brae Shetland (BBC News last Thursday) £1.03
