well, I guess its conffession time, LOL, Im a bit of an oldie being 68 born in 1938 but feel like Im still 40. The first 50 I ever owned was an old Trojan mini motor that were popular with most kids in the 50's during the petrol shortage. It was a motor that bolted onto the back of a push bike (bicycle). In those days you didn't have speedo's to tell you how fast they went but they did about 30 mph, and you'd get about 150 mpg.
They were two stroke, and some of the guys ported their engines in hope of making them go faster. It seems nothings changed, lol the quest for speed, getting the most out of a little 50 cc engine. Dont think anyones gunna break any land speed records at Bonneville with a 50 ~ROFL~.. I decided to get a 50 again, co's if I move my car, someone nicks my parking spot and it takes me days to get back in. LOL. In the early days there was no CBT, that was bought in to create jobs for hippies smoking dope and too lazy to get a proper job. ~ROFL~ nothings changed on that issue. LOL. As regards the MOT, well that has its merits co's in the old days people didn't give a toss about the condition of their transport and changes had to be made to ensure you were safe on the road not only from yourself, but from the other idiots who didn't give a toss either. ROFL.
Very little has changed really, the roads are still battlefields once you get on them and have to deal with large semi's and trucks whose slipstream as they pass you at high speed put you off balance and have to fight to regain control. LOL.
There's nothing more exhilirating than feeling the wind in your face once you get on your trusted steed and hit the road. It's still great fun and I'm still enjoying every moment I get on my little 50 and have great fun. I originally came here looking for help with my Jialing, but realised there's a lot of nice people on here. with a genuine desire to help others even strangers. In a way its a little community, a club, where people share their knowledge and experiences and knowledge. There's not many places today where you can find that sort of commeraderie expect in the forces.
Well, time for me to get off my soapbox LOL, thought Id let you guys know a little about me.
regards alan
