Iv'e bought one of these Dax Charming chinese copies from the Internetbike shop, It says in the ad they can be registered for road use, but doesn't tell you how. I have been in contact with others who have bought this particular model, they seem to have had similar problems such as no petrol flow to the carb (remove the tank, and sort out the kink in the petrol pipe) Everything plastic breaks and the handgrips go around 360 degrees even though you tighten them up. Mine starts OK but won't switch off, you can remove the key and it still keeps running (any ideas ?) The handlebars are wobbly even though they are tightened up to the max and the gear ratio's are too high. What really annoyed me was that having charged £60.00 delivery, when I told them it was rubbish they expected me to return it at my own cost (£70+ quoted) meaning I would have paid out £130.00 for nothing. They arrive crated up, mine had 8/10 of a kilometer on the clock assembly was quite easy but then the problems began. Not recommended. You can pay a bit extra and get a road legal one on ebay, these from the internetbikeshop are absolute garbage, why do they bother selling them at this price, lets have something that you can ride without risking bodily injury !

The reason that these are unassembled is that, if fully assembled they would be registered with the completion date (no 55's on the numberplate, probably 54's) - Thats what the DVLA told me, and you would have to prove the completion date at the factory or they wouldn't register them at all.
I think that most of the adverst show that there is some work to be done, but I feel that they do assume a certain level of technical ability, and are probably a little enthusiastic as to how long it would take.
Personally, I would think that unless you are extremely confident, pay a little extra and have the seller make the bike up and register it for you. They do loads, so are used to the problems.
Mine was from the Internet Bike Shop, they built it for me and, although I've had a few minor problems, which I've sorted, it's been an extremely cheap brand new bike, and I'm delighted. I don't think I would have got better service or value with a new bike from a major dealer.

Thankyou

The manufacturers could really package scoots alot better. Mine took a heavy beating from the trucking companies who hauled across the country from California. Half of the blame belongs to them, for they really don't give a damn what condition something arrives in, a long as they get paid. The manufacturer owns the other half of the blame. If they would set the scooter crate on a standard pallet if would not take half the beating it does. I worked shipping & recieving for my employer for several years & still sub now & then. The condition of some of the boxes we get in is terrible. A while ago I got in a $3000 (US) cicuit board. The box looked like it had been run over by a truck! It was flat, with pieces rattling around in it. I did not even have to look in the box to know the the board was destroyed I had to refuse it on the spot. The driver got kind of irritated that I refused to inspect it, but too bad! Sorry to run on about this, but I have had a lot of bad experiences with inept packaging & negligent handling.

Just joined the club, my centerstand broke as well. I already noticed it was scraping road surface on left turns and now it just collapsed as well. I know one shop to order parts, no commentrs on delivery speed though.. Here you can order the center stand, no idea about deliveries outside holland.. www.funracer.nl/FunShop/parts_list_category_2.php?database=p_baotian&category=20I have just send them a message to ask about delivery speeds and if they are able to send or deliver in the UK or other countries...keep you posted.

couldnt u use a combination of the main stand and the side stand then? I already thought of that as well and tried it. But while standing on the centerstand the sie stand is about two centimeters obove the surface which makes it a little unstable. I just made you a picture:

Will try to get that done..only have to find someone to do it..
But i'm afraid the problem will remain..i consider it a design problem so welding the stand will not fix it, replacing it neither..
But besides that i might have a tendency to hang in the curves which might be a reason to run into this quite quickly..

courier companies are cowboys...my scooter arrived upside down, oil everywhere.driver said just hose it down..My answer was like i dont think so..Got my second one and that dont work.Wish id bought locally cos getting it sorted out is a nightmare..Im in short supply of time..20minutes build up time..im still holding my sides from the laughing..Its in more pieces now than when i got it..lol..My advice is pay the extra and buy something locally..You shouldnt have to repair a brand new bike urself thats why its new just front wheel handlebars and battery and it starts....not
