Hi, has anyone got any ideas on this problem?
My daughter has got a Baotian BT50QT-11, it's done 300 miles & has been de-restricted. Goes great, except sometimes, after it's been going for a number of miles, around 10, the scoot nearly dies, she can keep it going by revving it, but there's little power. Then after a while it picks up again and carries on okay.
Any ideas welcome.

easy
Sounds to me 100% like a valve problem the tappet/valve gaps need setting with a feeler gauge to 0.06
most likly exhaust valve to tight

Not so easy, unfortunately.
Checked the valves. Both around .06. The exhaust was a fraction over so tightened it up.
Fuel filter was fitted the wrong way, with the flow arrow pointing back to the tank! Hasn't made any difference though.
After about 4 miles it starts to hesitate. If I throttle off it will chug along at 20 and eventually will pick back up again - for a short while. Very frustrating. Has no one had this problem?
Seems like a fuelling problem. I guess the carb will have to come off next. Not sure what to do with it though.

Hm... sounds like it could be crap in the fuel, change the fuel filter if it has one and if possible clean out the tank too.

in that case i'm thinking its a spark plug or fuel mixture problem Set the mixture screw 2 1/2 turns from tight and check the plug is clean and gap is correct dont think it matters a great deal which way round the filter is i'd replace the filter anyway as its tiny, they sell fuel filters most moter shops most common is clear plastic with a yellow filter like this one which works well with these scoots but any small filter will do cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINIMOTO-MINI-MOTO-HIGH-FLOW-PERFORMANCE-FUEL-FILTER_W0QQitemZ8020460478QQihZ019QQcategoryZ25640QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemwhile your there look for a new ngk plug as well as the one that comes with is not so good NGK CR7HSA or ngk C7HSA is the correct plug for most of these scooters

Right, I decided to hit it with everything. Drained the carb & tank, put in a new fuel filter, put in a new plug CR7HSA - the one with the resistor. And, the crucial one I think, checked the mixture - it was 4 1/4 turns out. So I set it to 2 1/2 turns, and it seems to have sorted it! Thanks Macrofeet have some Karma!
