you'll probably have to adjust the fuel/air mixture screw did you change the circlip while you had the carb top off?

Hello, i've got the same ped! u have to change the main jet from a 72 to something like a 95 i've got a 98 in mine but i'm running a custom air filter. Be aware that while your running as lean as you are now you can melt your piston crown! get it sorted! It makes a huge difference changing the jet and removing that screw!

I'm confused, isnt the mixture screw only an idle mixture screw?

Good point on the mixture screw hope someone knows - The mixture screw on my sk50qt was 1 3/4 turns out when I got it. Now its up jetted to 90. turned the screw out to 2 1/2 turns seems to be fine woken the ped up ! - but a little nervous at melting the piston crown. By the way - A local precision engineering company sold me a set of drills from 0.30mm to 1.30mm. POP to drill the jet. I'm told that if you want to down size your jet fill the whole with solder and re drill but I haven't tried that. The drill set cost a fiver, I'm just wondering how big can you go on the jet

Hi everyone, I recently bought my son an SK50QT and found that the restrictor was a bolt that was attached to the underside of the carb top. It was easily removed using a 6mm spanner and the speed was upped from 25mph to about 37mph. I have not made any mods to the mixture or the jet size but I think that there is a slip ring on the variator. This will be removed soon when I get my hands on an impact wrench. Can anyone confirm that this will be safe in terms of causing damage. Cheers, Mel.

The mixture screw and idle screw are 2 diffrent screws
mixture screw controls the fuel air mixture going into the engine
looser is more air in mix, tighter is less air in mix
to much air = engine runs to lean, can backfire spark plug can over heat(it will turn a redish colour or even melt )
to little air = mixture to rich plug will go black with carbon as its not getting hot enough to burn excess carbon off, engine will be hard to start due to no/little contact made on metal spark plug
the correct screw setting is between 2 and 3 turns you will need to tweak to get this perfect for your scooter
"turns" = screw driver complete turns out from when screw is tight in
The other screw (the idle screw) is basicly how much throttle the engine gets when at rest so that the scooter does not stall the best way to set this is with engine on and scoot on stand
tighten screw to just before the back wheel starts to move
hope this helps
