Unless you are using more oil than usual which I doubt, I would think your carb is set a bit rich, but nothing to worry about. If was oil burning you would have a blue smoke haze. You might check you plug, and give it a clean up. If your bike is running as good as usual I would leave it alone and not worry. My exhaust is directed at the ground so I dont see any soot at all.

I'd put money on it NOT being rings, from what you've just said I'd say again, carb adjustment, so no need to cry!

you're running rich for sure, the warmer temperature has been letting you know......... wouldn't get into stripping carb down try adjusting mixture from about 1.5 turns out
keep an eye on the state of your plug for quality of mixture.....

Clockwise for richer chap ;D Remember though the needle controls the mixture most of the time and the main jet on full throttle. Does your plug look ok? if so i wouldnt worry too much if its running ok.

If it sets your mind at ease my xt has a high level exhaust and i get the same deposits on my indicator. If you look inside any exhaust they will have black soot inside. Rev your engine as well and see if theres any black smoke. If there is its probably a little too rich.
