Hi, this appears to be the best forum out there that could help me, hope you can help, this is my first visit.
I have a Giantco Venus (ebay purchase) 50cc four stroke moped, Chinese import, which looks very similar to Baotian 50cc classic style model. I have read the instructions on derestricting the Baotian and found the carburettor in the same place under the seat on my model.
I am bit unsure about the pink wire going to the CDI unit, as the CDI plug on my model is not in the same place as on the Baotian (battery compartment). I have removed a panel and found a processor, which has pink wire going into it, does anyone know if this would be the correct wire to cut? Or does the colour of the wire differ from manufacturers?
Does anyone know if the steps identified for derestricting the Baotian apply to my Giantco Venus?
hope you guys can help. Good forum. jh

they can differ now and again, follow the pink wire and see where it goes, however your carb restriction etc will be the same

Pictures below where taken of the compartment just below the seat on the right side of the bike. There is a plug which shows the pink wire going into a plug, pink wire comes from the processor. Not sure where the pink wire terminates. Does this reveal anything to the trained eye? means nothing to me!!! <a href="http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc001994lv.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/64/dsc001994lv.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a> <a href="http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc002009as.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4069/dsc002009as.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>

This picture is taking from the right side rear of the bike, pink wire can be seen on the right. Does this look familiar, Could this wire be the one to cut? <a href="http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc002069kw.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/4347/dsc002069kw.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>

Have made progress.....I removed the restriction on the Variator as per guide, which did not make much difference. Then removed the brass screw from the underside of carburettor lid, which has made a significant difference to the acceleration and top speed. But there does now to appear to be a slight problem, when I have come to a stop (at lights) the engine will cut out, this does not happen everytime, it seems to depend on how long I am idle for. Any ideas/suggestions?

Try adjusting the air screw, guide in 'hints tips & diy' until it runs fast on tick over, then adjust the tick over screw, its the one that has the throttle linkage can on the carb, until you get a nice steady tick over. You may have to have a few miles (kms) on the clock before it will settle down, and have to do it several times until then. Remember your distance (odometer) probably reads in KLMs not miles too.

The pink wire in your pictures above are not related to the derestriction, they are part of your alarm system.
The cutting out at idle is due to the higher fuel level now entering the engine (because you removed the brass screw in the carb), As 'enu' says, set the air mixture screw and then set the tickover back to a normal level.
Congrats on your derestriction, glad the guide proved useful to you.

Image below shows the location of the idle screw. It is taken from a post with the subject "whats this screw for" img154.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic13xg.jpgAdjusted the idle screw yesterday which made a difference to the idle tick over, but as my journey progressed i stopped at lights and the bike died on me, seems, as enu06 suggests above, I will have to do this a few times before things settle down. jh
