Just about done 600k so decided to bite the bullet and derestrict today. Thanks to the great guide on here it was so easy. I removed the pink wire direct from the cdi and taped it back and took out the brass screw from the top of the carb. Despite Baotian UK telling me that the extra ring was fitted to the drive shaft on stripping it down I found there was not. This may well explain why I have been getting good top end speeds compared to many on here. Its never had a problem getting to 40 on the flat. So off for a test drive and wow its like a different bike, with a gentle twisting of the throttle the speedo rushes up. On the dual carriageway it got to 50 on a slight incline with still some play left in the throttle, however I bottled out at that stage. The best thing though as been the improvement on the hills, much better than expected. It would struggle to get to 20 often dropping to 15 or 10. Well most of the time it now sits on 25 even creeping up to 30. The average lowest drop on a very steep hill was 20 and for just a very small part of it 15. It never went below 15 and soon picked up speed again. I was not expecting this and I expect the faster approach to the hill helps. I shall put the changing to lighter rollers on hold until I have had more time to see how it runs. I have to say the increased acceleration makes for a very nice ride and it cruises very nicely at 45 with a very pleasant purr from the exhaust. So thanks for all the help guys.

I need to watch out I may start feeling like a 16 year old again and I could not face that again (too many hormones etc).

Hi, I barely passed my cbt last saturday. Nearly ploughed into a bus and ran a redlight and my dad is getting me a bt50qt-9. What speed does it go if you cut the pink wire and remove the brass screw? Is it something around the 40-50mph mark?

I get up to 50 on the flat no problem but the bike seems happier rolling along at 40 so i tend to stay at 40 -45, it will drop on hill though. Dont cut the pint wire. Remove it from the conector and tape it back. Then it can always be replaced if nessasary. With your driving record so far I think your dad is brave getting you a bike. Keep the speeds down until you know what you are doing

I'm getting the bike from the BaotianUK dealer in Canterbury for £695. Seems a good price considering the spec. ABS, Alarm, Remote engine starting and 12 month warranty. I am a good rider except on Saturday it was hot down here in Kent and there was just too many girls in bikinis. What's the running in speed , 15mph? and if you completely take the brass screw out doesn't it screw the engine up?

Seems that they are one of the better dealers, reading comments on here.

brass screw is a restriction, will make it better to ride, dont know where you heard that it screws the engine up but thats BS, and good excuse for nearly ploughing into a bus lol

The brass screw seems to be there to put pressure on the fuel intake and therefore restrict the fuel and power..... I took mine out before I even started the scoot up and it's running fine now.
As for 35mph.... that's about the top speed for a restricted (35mph on speedo = about 31mph) but once de-restricted these scoots can go a lot faster.... mine is less thant 2 weeks old and only has 40kms on the clock but it has already done just short of 45mph on a flat run.
As the others said though - forget about speed and concentrate on the road, traffic flow etc, or you'll get yourself killed ...... I'm serious, these scooters can be lethal if you don't take care of what your doing and your surroundings..... good luck !

Take note of the old boy here it is not for no reason that the laws were changed to restrict what 16 years olds could ride. When I was 16 a long, long, long time ago the death and accident rate was terrible. On another note I dont think you can go wrong buying from Baotian UK. Those of us that have do not seem to be having some of the horror stories that you read of on here. Ride safely.
