Hi,
i was just wondering the nature of the bore kit advertised on scooter assasins.
it says a 50 to 80 cc bore kit... does this mean a bore kit which will improve your 50 to an 80 ? or does it mean that you will be sent a bore kit which has a cc of between 50 and 80?
obviously i wouldn't want to end up with a 51cc! in fact i would like the biggest possible.
i was also wondering what people's experience was with them etc? is the site reliable and how much improvement has it given?
once again, many thanks
matt

What it means is, you will receive a bore kit to convert your 50cc to an 80cc.
The kits are very good quality, and include everything you need.
I bought one of these from their website. Postage was around 12 days (comes from Taipei, China).
The difference it makes is very noticable, there is more acceleration and low end power. The top end is not really effected, but the power increase is well worth the effort of installing the kit.
I'm sure there are other members on here who have fitted an 80cc kit, so what do others think?

I bought the same 80cc kit, still messing with carbs, but straight out of the box the performance increase is enormous.
The actual kit is really 72cc, but that is still a 44% increase in capacity. The bottom end torque is the big gain which makes the bike far more usable round town. the bike still looks totally stock.
Highly recomended.

I agree with blubayou, my acceleration tripled up-to 35mph, my top end went from 35-40 to 45-50mph. He's right about the kit, it's described as an 80cc but the actual displacement is 72cc and it cost about $150 over in the U.S. There is another kit for the 50cc 4-stroke at 'partsforscooters.com' that is an actual 82cc upgrade and goes for $280 U.S. dollars, that my next step up. The 72cc kit is well worth the money if you can't afford the big-boy 82.

i've also been thinking about getting the bore kit from assasins
i understand you gotta take the rocker arms and valves off & camshaft chain, re set the timing and plenty more sounds past my skills has anyone paid to get one of these fitted if so how much did it cost was it hard to find someone who would actually fit the kit ?

If you go to "Scootdawg.com" and go to his downloads section he has a manual in there for the GY6 (139QMB) big bore kit installation. I had never done anything like this before and it only took me 3 hours, plus it is not necessary to remove the engine from the bike. The hardest part was compressing the piston rings to get it back in the cylinder. I heard getting the rings on the piston is a tedious task but mine already came installed. On his chat forum a lot of people don't really like scooter assassins delivery time. But I guess with customs, anything coming from a foreign country could take a few weeks. Troy P.S. Yesterday I posted a reply under 'variator nut' with a pic of a tool I have called 'pulley pliers', the pic was there last night and today there is nothing but the text. ??

Not at all, mine came with a new head but it was all in pieces, I just swapped out the camshaft and used my old head. I am going to use the new head to port and polish and anything else I can do to it to gain performance.

Sorry to sound nasty but your questions are stupid... To install the 80cc kit you will have to dismantle the entire engine, Which does require some mechanical knowledge if you didn't know that... Now to answer your slightly bizarre question, yes it will screw the valve clearances up because you will need to reset them once everything gets put back together. Valve clearances is one of the easiest things to do and if you cant manage that i wouldn't suggest you purchase the 80cc kit and try to install it yourself!

I hope I'm not passing along bad info? I thought most of these 4-stroke 139QMB were set up the same just different styles of body panels. On my Geely/Jalon Falcon 18 I just had to remove the side panels, seat compartment , and protective plastic around the cylinder and head. On the head, all I had to do was remove the 4 bolts on the rocker arm(not the adjusting screw and nut) holding the camshaft in and replace along with the new cylinder and piston. There was no need for me to even remove the engine from the bike. After a few hundred miles break-in of the upgrade I did go back in and adjust the valve clearance. Once again sorry if I am passing and info that is not compatible with the set up on your scoots.

Hey Troy,
Your info is good, I think the point being made is that you should really be thourougly competent at routine maintenance tasks before attempting an engine uprade.
A very valid point.

Probably missed something on the install, but it could have also been a defective part. If your going to get your 125 within a couple of months I would save your money, If it's going to be 6mths or a year down the road go ahead and buy it. The install is a learning experience, plus once you get your 125 you can always slap on a 170cc kit and know what your doing.

I got mine from scooter assassins, it took a long time to come, the circlips were missing (re-use old ones), but the quality is very good. You could also order the 36mm boss at the same time, good complimentary mod which raises the final drive slightly.
I've not tried rollers etc.. yet and still using standard filter setup with the original 0.85 jet, although I'm still messing with this. It goes very well. I don't think you'd be dissapointed.
