hi all..Took the belt casing off and cant see any markings on casing or flywheel to set tdc .theres a marking on flywheel plastic 3 dashes with a line

Jason, your flywheel is on the other side of the engine , "T" mark on flywheel alligns to mark on casing. There is an explanation of this procedure elswhere on the forums. Brian

hi ive opened my valves up but they are making a noise should i open more or less? i dont now i set them to 0.05 and the noise was ear killing, screwed it in abit more and still making noise.

already done that, but my valves are tapping bad? do i just set it to 0.05 and let it tap or mess until it stops?

Valve ajustment should be done with the engine cold, make sure you are using the correct feeler gauge 0.05mm [not to be mistaken for 0.5mm which is ten times too wide]

no i am using the correct feeler gauge and did do it on a cold engine, i am going to have a go at it again tomorrow.

Also make the sure the cam is in position for valve clearances.. Crank does 2 revolutions to the cams 1 so the crank can be at TDC but not the cam,... adjust it when the cams not at TDC as well and when it is youll have enough valve clearance to climb under the adjuster...and yes it will rattle like hell! If ya look on the camwheel driven by the chain it will also have a marking, make sure thats lined up too! how come thats not in the HOW TO GUIDE a 4 stroke engine will always have the crank at TDC twice per full engine cycle, only a 2 stroke has single TDC.
