For more top end you can shave down your driving pulley sleeve a few mm, but be careful, too much and your belt will pop off!!!

Yep, it lets the belt ride higher on the variator side giving more rpm's and top end. But like I said, if you take too much off and the belt rides up too high it will pop off. If you feel gusty enough put your scoot up on the center-stand, start'er up, take the cover, have a friend stand on the right hand side of the bike and give it gas while you watch the belt side (standing a few feet away).
Oh, one other important thing to do is take out the starter bendix before attempting to do this so you can only kick-start it. And make sure the scoot is planted and doesn't move. I'd hate to see it fall off the stand and go for a ride all by itself.
There is a video clip of this being done, I saw it a few months ago. I'll go back and look to see if I can find it again and pass the site address along to you folks. Take every precaution possible if you are going to try this.

:(hmmm well i treid this idea..well first off what i didnt like wat that i have to shave some metal also off the starter cog which was a pain..cause i took alil off the pulley sleeve but i managed to get it to work. it still turns ther motor over i just hope it doesnt wear out being that i dont have a kickstart. it does give the bike alil more rpms and it speeds up to 35 faster and gets top speed of 45-50..but its not for everyone so...its on you fellas

What do you mean by starter "cog", is that the starter "bendix". When I shaved my pulley sleeve down I didn't have to make any other kind of mods.

Well I had a look at mine over the weekend. I have a 39mm sleeve as standard. I installed the 36mm sleeve and the driving pulley teeth catch the starter bendix. All you need to do is put a 1mm thick washer on the crankshaft before you put the variator and sleeve on.
I'mk trying to find a suitable washer. When I do I let you all know how things go.

Similar findings to Stunna1 & BillyGreen after doing mine a coupile of days ago. Replaced 38mm with 36mm sleeve.
Provisional results show a gain of 2mph (average of 43mph on the level, 72cc), no big deal but every little helps on the ring road!.
Downsides, used washer to reduce bendix throw (to stop catching on the starter ring) seems to slow starter action badly, also kickstart not engaging.
Was considering bushing crank, is pulley alignment critical? I was considering a 2mm spacer?
I'll try it & see!

I would be concerned about putting the drive belt 3mm off the centre line by using a spacer to bring the variator out. Even with just 3mm difference this must put undue pressure on the belt and with it riding higher on the pulleys, could it come off easier if it is off centre

After hearing about the problems everyone had been encountering I took my sleeve of and had a measurement of 36.5mm and have had no problems then took it down 36mm and had the same results as everyone else. Thank God I have spare parts !

Some people on the Swedish forum did this. The thing seems to be 38 mm stock, for most people. 36 mm is a little too short. 36,5 mm is just about right. It helps a lot to have a 70cc fitted. With the stock 50cc maybe 37 mm is the best.

Success! Fitted 1.2mm washer behind variator combined with 36mm sleeve, all is fine & dandy. Starts well, bendix not catching, kickstart operational
Best bit is revs are down at high speed & also hit a record max of 49mph on a known road, (previous best of 45mph).
A worthwhile mod for the modest price, or as Botanic says turn yours down to 37mm, you should be OK!
Might try turning mine down to 35mm.......

Just got a new 'Dayco 7173' standard belt from Beedspeed, thought I may as well change the chinky belt whilst changing the rollers. Awful performance from standing start, ok once underway.
Turns out the new Dayco belt is no longer bottoming in the drive sheave due to being too wide, so giving an unrealistically high gear.
Put old chinky belt in all ok. This suggests that a shorter sleeve may pose similar problems on a standard belt. Incidentally, old belt is about 1.5mm narrower despite being the same spec i.e. 18mm wide, but worn in.
Old belt, 36mm sleeve, 1.2mm spacer, still goin well.
