I need to use my moped but it wont start. last night it wouldnt... The battery I think is flat and will only start occasionly with this, the rest the time I have to kick start it. But I have tried for about 10mins non stop and kick starting wont start it. I think someone could have done something to it maybe because there was some boys lurkin around yesterday. Any ideas?

I don't think the boys would have been able to do anything to stop it from working unless maybe they disconnected the spark plug(which is quite difficult to do). Check the side stand is up Check theres fuel Try kick starting the bike with the throttle open half way If you've tried all of the above then maybe you should re-adjust the idle fuel mixture on the carb because of the cold weather also maybe change the spark plug If none of the above work also check and if needed readjust the valves Valve Guide: taishanowners.proboards41.com/index.cgi?board=mechanical&action=display&thread=1129806564Hope this helps

The side stand must be up because when I try battery start it it makes some sound. And proberly a dumb question but is a spark plug the long thin metal like thing in the carb?

This is what a spark plug is It screws into the cylinder head and enters the inside of the combustion chamber where it ignites the fuel If you have a defective spark plug it would cause the bike not to start or run very well. But i dont think this is causing your probs

even when the side stand is down the bike can still crank over using the electric start and the kick start but it wont ever work

I think I might try rechargeing the battery. My freind thinks it would be a 6v. But in my owners manual it says a 12v, but the manaul is abit doggy. I own a taishan commuter qt-4

Also I do not have a centre stand, only the side one. Centre stand broke. But yeh for the past few days the side stand has been sticking abit, not springing back up. If there is a wire on it, if I disconnect this would it start, or not start because its disconnected?

The battery is 12v for sure.
The side stand needs to be in the up position to start, if the wire is disconected or the stand is down it won't start, it's like an imobiliser.
I think this is where your problems are being caused.

I have looked on the side stand, I cant see a wire on the stand, or where the stand goes up. Are you sure there is one on a taishan?

I have got down and I cant see a wire on the side stand. My centre stand is broken so I do not use this. But I have layed next to the bike, I cannot see a wire anywhere near the side stand, and I cannot see a sensor or anything. Where excatly is it?

maybe the wire from the side stand has become disconnected causing your bike not to start and for you not to be able to see it

I recommend tearing the side panel off and having a proper look

Well we dont need to worry about it anymore... My mopeds been stolen. Yep you know I said about them guys lurking around, my dad reckons they done something to stop it starting so I couldnt go anywhere, and while trying to fix it I didnt lock it, and they just walked off with it...
