hi there. I have a taishan sport 49cc. I bought it on ebay. Ever since I got it (1 yr ago) it keeps stalling as if it is being starved of fuel. It doesnt cut out, it just slows right down and then starts up again. Its as if the throttle doest work for a few seconds. Due to this, I cant travel long distances and I have to take the quiet back roads everywhere.
There is also a black rubber pipe that hangs down on the left handside of the scooter that connects to another black rubber pipe. This kept disconnecting due to pressure i think, so i had to slide both ends onto a small copper pipe and use a jublee clip to hold them together, BUT Recently when I was travelling up a hill, the rubber pipe split and ever since, I have noticed a serious increase in the fuel consumption of the scooter.
The worst thing about my scooter is that the front wheel is not in-line with the handle bars. This is un-fixable because the two hole that line up in the steering column for a bolt to go through are off centre.
Apart fom these things I am happy with the scooter seeing as I paid £400 for it. But I would have less problems if I had a bought a second hand peugeot or Yamaha.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THEIR SCOOTER CUTS OUT? WHAT IS THAT BLACK RUBBER PIPE? DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN UNALIGNED WHEEL?

Had the same problem with my speedo. Maybe my solution will work for you. You need to take off the front wheel and open up the hub. Inside there is a washer with 2 edges that should fit into the speedo drive. These had flattened so that although the wheel was turning, they were not going into their slots and thus not moving the speedo. I just bent them back into position and the speedo works fine now.

Here's a copy & paste from the my-taishan site, hopefully it'll be of some use: Hi, What i have found which is very serious is that the auto choke (the little black plastic thing on the left hand side of the carb with a cable running out of it) was always switched on therefore making the petrol mix far too rich and most of the time flooding the cylinder with petrol when at idle speed and going along at a fast speed aswell. So first off all i recomend you disconnect the auto choke from the rest of the bike, very easilly done by just pulling the the connecting cable clips apart (just follow the wire from the black auto choke box, on the carb, and then you will see a red connector clip, just pull them apart.) Doing that should fix most of your problems. If you find after doing that procedure it still cuts out when at idle speed there is a small flat head screw at the front left hand side of the the carb wich may need screwing nearly all the way inwards (what i did was screwed it in all the way and then unscrewed it 1/4 - 1/2 turns outwards), this screw controls the amount of fuel the pilot jet is squirting into the cylinder. Screwing it inwards this will decrease the amount of fuel being squirted in from the pilot jet at idle speed therfore should stop the cylinder being flooded and cutting out at idle speeds.
This is what i done to fix my cutting-out, stalling and low power problems hopefully it should sort yours.

Re Speedp Cable My sons went after about 1000Klm seemed to be very dry when i took it out. New one fitted with easy But i oiled it well before sliding the new one in the casing. Pushing over 2000km and no more problems. It seems these bikes or cheap to buy BUT you will have soom miner problems to sort out. Other bikes i looked at cost up to £2,000 . My son already has come off his bike and scratched it . Not to bothered for the price i paid(£395 + £95 postage) I would by hopping mad if i had paid £2,000 and he had come off. hopefull he will learn a lesson on this bike and buy a car next.................. Do TAISHAN do cars? ??
