Sounds a lot of cash to spend on a Chinese scooter but go for it anyway!!

I did the upgrade. It increased my normal cruising speed to about 38mph. A valve was bent so I'm waiting for a replacement now. The kit isn't even broken in yet

O yeah, you can't just throw the kit on and expect it work well either. You either have to get a new carb or increase the main jet size. I had no luck finding jets to fit, so you may have to adapt an atv or another scooter carb.
Are you getting the kit from ebay? Mine was $200 and included lighter rollerweights. If it's being shipped to the uk and installed I think $350 dollars is a good deal that is if it's installed right.

hey , The guy I want to buy it from owns a scooter shop in the next town . To me it sounds like a lot of $$ but I will look further to see what it includes. My scooter right now goes 38mph with regular oil changes. What speed do you think I could get to with the upgrade ?. If it only gives me 2 more mph thats crazy to spend the $$$ dmilo

Yeah, it is a lot of money, but if this guy guarrantees everything will work well it might not be so bad. On the other hand, the kit is not hard to install. The parts should be worth about $80.
What would your kit come with? Mine came with cylinder, head, piston (and rings), camshaft, and all the necessary hardware. Also, you need to upjet to get any performance and not ruin your new kit.

Yes, he still sells the kits too... It was: trashcanhead
He's a nice guy, but I would NOT recommend him. My kit came with bent valve and he said to use it anyways and he'd send me a new head. Well 2 months later he is still blowing me off and saying he'll get back to me. Plus he sells the kits, and he doesn't even have them in stock so you have to wait like 3 weeks until after you pay. He also said a new main jet would be included, but none is!

Talking UK here but:- Since the 125cc's are only about £100 dearer than the 50cc's, (with a bit of research), I cannot see the point of upgrading the engine from 50cc to 80cc.
The brakes etc. on a 50cc are set up for a 50cc engine, not an 80cc, so you could run the risk of riding a dangerous machine if you do the upgrade.
If it is because someone is under 17, and can only legally ride a scooter less than 50cc, then any upgrade to 80cc would make it illegal anyway, so you might as well ride a 125 illegally, (not that I am suggesting doing this).

What kind of brakes does the 125cc have? It's hard to find any scooter other than 50cc in the states because motorcycles are more economic and scooters are thought of as little kid bikes.

Yeah, but do the 125cc Baotians or whatever actually have different brakes than the 50cc? It seems to me like the only difference is a larger engine block.

I think they're the same except for a bigger engine.

I think they're the same except for a bigger engine. That's what I thought. 80cc gave me only slightly more power, I don't think it's unsafe power by any means.
