It does look like an 80cc piston and cylinder, with a 50cc head. This set up would work fine. The best way to check is measure the inside diameter of the cylinder, 39mm=50cc, 47mm=80cc

I don't know if they would do this, but it is possible to use an 80cc piston with a shorter crank, to get same 50cc displacement but a higher rev engine. You really need to check the difference between top and bottom position for the piston to be sure.

I'm glad I took those pictures now! Here's another one of the bores: On my 50cc those "other two numbers" on the head are just scratched on there. The say "1g A". I don't know what they mean, but since they are just lightly scratched on there I would guess they were made by the "A" shift whenever 1g is.

The numbers on the head indicate whick factory the casting came from ours have 12 on the head and A XQ on the cylinder there is also a letter on the piston and the cylinder a,b, or c thease are bore sizes to indicate c being the smallest. Also some of the early engines had an 80cc 47mm bore but a shorter stroke so it gives the same power output.

Thanks for the help Jonathan,
I just got another 80cc head today and it has a 15 on it. Go figure! My old 80cc head had a leaky valve. Do you know what the chrome pipe is for off of the exhaust port? Apparently the UK scooters don't have it.
Hypojam, if you want any pics of the new head let me know!

Because of factory inconsistencies some bikes in the US are actually 80cc even though they are sold as 50cc. Hypojam, I highly suspect your bike may be 80cc already if it goes 45mph. I suspect that my scoot may have the 80cc kit on it too. I have not maxed out my speed yet as my engine is new,but after reading a couple of Hypojams posts about racing other mopeds, I thought I would try opening it up a bit going down a hill. I hit 45mph at about 3/4 throttle. The other day, when I was thought I was going to be late for work I took it up to 40mph on a flat stretch & still was'nt fully topped out.

Mopshop.de is selling 80cc kits. The testing is in full effect in Sweden. I might report from the Swedish forums later (depending on how much karma I will get here ;-) ).
